You raise the exact questions I wanted to ask. Why don't you tell us who you are, or who you've worked with so we can grovel at your feet? Personally, I don't give a rats ass if you're George Martin, because your attitude reveals the fact that you are not interested in helping amatuer recording musicians/engineers. Don't get me wrong, my post wasn't solely about you, there are too many people here who just want to spread their "Big Me-little you" attitude around. A good teacher would never make a student feel like an idiot. A good teacher always says "There are no dumb questions". I guess thats your choice to belittle Royston and you have every right to do so. You humiliated a fellow human being in public, and you did a very good job of it. I certainly hope you engineer as good as you put people down. I guess when you're famous and well known around the music world, you tend to get that way after awhile, huh...big city livin' the Vida Loca? I'll take a guess and say that maybe you are Ricky Martin's engineer?? Britney Spears??? N'SYNC?? Maybe Aerosmith wrote that new song about some of you...JADED????sjoko2 said:The reason why some of us "so called pro's hang out in a home recording site" is that some of us so called pro's don't mind helping some not so called pro's
On top of that, as a so called pro, you don't know my name, you don't know who I am, you don't know what I've done or what I'm doing, or whom I work with, unless I think it relevant to say so.
Still think I'd do it to be a big fish in a small pond? Or, just perhaps, if that was the case wouldn't I use my real name?

I found this site interesting at first, but it grows old listening to people spout about how great they are and dropping names instead of trying to help those who need it. Or how you can't possibly get a good result from a Mackie or an SM57 on vocals etc. The bottom line should be "how can I get the most out of the equipment I have". Because in a world very, very far away from yours, people don't have, and are never going to have access to Neve's and Nuemann's, Pultecs and Manleys. Think of us as the THIRD WORLD of recording, sitting at our Mackies with out tummies bulging out. We don't want to be stars, just make good music. We don't care about commercialism, fortune and fame. We don't want to be cynical of fellow musicians. WE DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN YOUR WORLD.
