If you could only use two effects to mix, what would you use and why?
Reverb and delay.
Reverb for the sense of space, you can run anything that needs it into the same verb and it will sound ok.
Delay for the lead vocal and lead guitar just as an effect. You can use the same setting for both, just use more of it on one than the other.
Hi,
I don't consider compression and eq as effects, I would call that processing.
That depends. Are you asking because you have a 'studio in a box' that only lets you run two things on the effects card? (in which case 'effects' would include compression, eq, and any other processing)you wouldn't have compression as one of those effects?

If so, I would have to go with EQ and compression. Of course, if you only get one instance of an EQ or compressor, that's pretty useless. I'd probably go back to my original answer in that case.
