A friend of mine once observed, "Running a studio for hire is like owning a Lambourghini (sp?) but having to rent it out to strangers in order to afford it."

word.

people keep on saying that "SGT. PEPPER on a 4 TRACK" was so amazing,
true,
i started recording on 2track, sounded better than my experiments on 4 track, now i got 10 tracks but my equipment can't touch mr Martins gear by far,and of course his brains, accoustic treatment, & the beatles weren't such bad musicians were they? .... so its not cause u only can record 4 tracks simultaniously you'll be more creative..... it used to be like that, but in the year 2005 people seem to be more......lazy....

its a never ending discussion,

if the band sucks, the cd will suck, if the engineer sucks the cd will suck, if the gear sucks the cd MIGHT suck

without human beings we are lost

the band i recently recorded couldn't even play back the songs i recorded for them, i was standing on the other side of the room saying "hey, press play for me will you..."

ehm.....

HIT SPACEBAR PLEASE

suddenly i lost some of my magical powers, the band felt like:
"hey, i can operate this computer now, maybe i could....do it all myself?"

next time they won't touch any buttons anymore, and won't sit on my chair anymore...(i don't even sit on my 'wheel'chair (hehe) while i record, it might SQUEEK or make noise, i stand or sit on my knees on the carpet)

having a studio is mystery and stuff,
having a rehearsal room is just fun
