mixmkr,

Can't complain 'bout much but the drums.

I'd bring the lead guitar a bit more center, sounds more right than anything. Everything sounds panned right, and a bit monoish... Definately play with the panning, needs to be spread out more. Make the plane fly left to right (around 4:00), that kind of thing.

For easy-listening, I might turn down some of those 'screams...'

Especially the female screams, the need to be eq'd lower, too much bite to them.

Other than that, the general levels are pretty good. Just need some work on the stereo aspect.

Good listening, other than the odd harrowing scream being a bit too loud ;)

well, that's weird. ...the plane DOES fly from HARD left to HARD right....hhhmmm. The rhy guit is spread about 10 and 2...and the cheezy drums too. The sound effects are panned hard over, and moved around too. hhhmmm...

Hey...anyway...MUCH APPRECIATED for the listen and the comments. I'll experiement more with the stereo image and try to get the *center* lined up a bit better.

Jesus, I write stupid late at night, and do stupid things.

I pulled dumb-ass again, left the stereo bridged mono I think because it's still set there this morning and yours was the last tune I listened to before I hit the sack. And since my right ear is the good ear, lol, DUH

Anyways, listening again, I do notice the stereo effect spread out a bit more, but the right side is still a bit louder than the left in general. I ignored the drums again.

My comments on the screams stand ;)

hey chris,
did you watch too much Miami Vice in the 80's?? :D

actually sounded pretty good, though (to my untrained ears)

I always wanted to play in the style of jan hammer.....loved his miami vice music, actually.....not to mention his drumming.

I liked the show too...back then.:D (I'm into sailboats too...but I don't have a pet alligator!)

chris,
don't take my comment as a dig. if you were going for that sound, you nailed it. i thought the show was great, when the plot sucked, you could still have fun with the visuals and the music.

wadda ya mean "dig"??:D is that a rap phrase??:p oh...an 80's phrase!!. Not to worry...but I'm not sure what you really mean.

With recording, I find I rarely *go* for a sound...things just kind of lead their own way, and I just try to keep up and follow. When I try to emulate something, I never really seem to hit my target, and then it really sucks. That way, I don't have to stay in the boundries and follow any plans or rules....eh?? ha!

thanks for the comments:)

waldo

I have put up a couple more songs. Recorded like the previous stuff with cheap gears, but, give them a listen, and tell me what you think about the music, please :)

Sorry I haven't been listening past day or so, body is having a bad 'bout, not sure if it's the meds or what.

I'll be listening in the next few days providing I can hop out of bed. Critiquing songs from this laptop would be unfair to y'all, so I'll post as soon as I'm back in action.

Some days I wish I could afford more rest... Can't wait 'til the surgery is all done and I'm all recovered. I guess we'll know in 7 or 8 months.

chris (mixmkr), fyi
a 'dig' is a negative comment. not sure if it is an 80's term, or just where i got it...

your method of recording sounds not unlike the flight plan of a....

...wait for it....

lost pilot? :D

either way, i gave that one the thumbs up.

Well, Waldo, if you are still in a listening mood I put the two tunes from this week up on NoWhere. ;)

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/10/1247/singles.shtml

"The Mouse and The Eagle" and "Woolton Street"

I think that about does it for my creativity spurt of the past month...at least I hope so- I need to get more regular sleep.

Chris (Shaeffer)

hey Waldo...chin up and hope you're feeling better. ....and I'm sure I speak for all in that we're all pullin' for a quick surgical recovery. Keep us posted.:)

What the hell...

I have a bad mix of one of my tunes up on one of my sites at Artistlaunch.com. I've gotten some good advice here on what I can do with it. Wouldn't mind getting some more, before I do some more work on it.

You can find it here:

http://www.artistlaunch.com/helens

It's called Daydream.

Er...enjoy. :D

Okay, just woke up an hour or so ago, had my shower, tired as hell. But going to start the reviews, since it seems a few have piled up since I last checked :)

mixmkr,

LeadNuts - (Why the h---?) Was expecting something heavy from the background conotation. Fairly well mixed, not really any huge complaints, I might bring down the lead guit a bit, tiny bit over-powering, either that or eq it a tiny bit lower.

Drums are better, snare still sounds a bit... dead, cymbols are hard to hear, hi-hat is too fake ;)

I could kinda see this as a running background to a documentary, or a 'educational' film. It's definately got that feel.
