I've been using POD for my guitar tracks for quite a while now, but just yesterday a sudden thought hit me...there's that TUBE PREAMP setting...I should try running vocals through POD!
And well I tried it.
I ran a Shure SM-58 into my ART Tube MP preamp and then into the POD. I set the POD to tube preamp, some hi-freq boost, a little room reverb and some compressor. And WOW...what a wonderful disappointment awaited me.
I IMMIDEIATELY HAD ONLY 2 THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE TRACK I GOT:
1. "WHOA!!! Now FINALLY I won't have to waste time anymore on processing the tracks after each take. There it is!! A surprisingly solid track with all the compression and EQ I need right after the take!! I have never been able to acheive this kind of tightness and balanceness of vocals with Cakewalk's software plugins."
2. "Oh...CRAP...Something in the sound just isn't as good as straight from preamp into soundcard. Something in it is lost...Maybe it's just different. Hmm. Or maybe it's supposed to be like that?"
Now, Guys and Girls, I am STUCK...
Did anybody of you my fellow POD owners ever try doing that?
Please share your opinions.
Is POD any good for runing vocals?!
I know about this "sounds good to you then use it" thing...But I am just not yet too experienced with real audio recording I guess (started about a year ago).
