Ha! I was going to write something very similar to Greg as I agree with him completely on this. You didn't really bite, but since you are by default the point person for electronic music on this forum, you're stuck with it.
To the average listener, there is a noticeable difference between punk and prog...yet I don't think there are discernable differences between most of the various electronic genres to even those who are musically inclined. I submit that electronic genres and sub-genres are for the most part contrived and arbitrary. So there.
Anyway, this sounds good to me Keith. Nothing jumps out as being out of place or anything and I think you've done another fine job production wise. This has a full, wide sound to it, and while I prefer some of your stuff that has more pronounced variation, there is some subtle stuff going on here that is pretty cool.![]()
Absolutely not...to the untrained ear rock can sound pretty generic and similar (god knows how many sub genres metal has) Im lucky enough to be a big fan so I can tell the difference but I know some guys that would struggle to discern between new wave, punk, grunge..yet they are different..its the same with electro..lets stick with the ones I mentioned
trance is generally around the 135 bpm mark, uses lots of pads, reverb, delay with either an arp, pluck or big detuned saw as its lead, think JP-8080 and TR-909's...it derives from house and rave music and you dance to the beat
drum and base is around the 175bpm mark...doesnt use pads and is far drier in terms of reverbs or delays..the drums are actually weaker and more often than not come from the 808..there is generally a breakbeat loop (amen break) played over the main drums and it uses samples...it derives from techno and hip hop and you dance to the bassline
god forbid you ever hear a reese bass in a trance track...the world would end!!
I know that doesnt sound like it would make much difference but if its the music you listen to its pretty easy to spot and not contrived.... if you argue with my perfect logic the neighbours dog is going to get it

though looking at this fucking list I can see why you think it is...lol

I reckon there are four main types of electronic music, maybe the rest is nonsense

Thanks for listening dude..Im trying to make things more involving..and while I did use a choir again (I cant stop) I hope the use of a vibraslap earns me extra points
