My point exactly. I don't care if some stuff sounds the same, as long as its good. If I could find 6 more bands that sounded just like the Black Dahlia Murder, then I'd have 6 times more Black Dahlia Murdery type stuff to listen to, and I'd be 6 times happier.

Black Dahlia is badass...sometimes they leave something to be desired though; I feel like they need "space" in their music in order to let it breath. Great guys though....their lead singer smokes the finest herb ever, and they are truly brutal live.
 
I think Killswitch Engage are awesome !! Pantera in the 90 s brought metal back mainstream .. Killswitch are good enough to maybe do that now ? But no its not dead ... its still alive and well if ya know where to look ?? Not having a metal band in Billboards top 10 like back in the day doesnt make it dead ..? real metal doesnt wanna be on the POp charts ..though Pantera had a # 1 album there ?? that is pretty cool ...? Btw pay attention to Killswitchs production ... KILLER .. and its recorded at their guitarists HOUSE !!!

Check out the different bands on Metalblade, Roadrunner, NuclearBlast, go their websites, check out every band they have. Look for other labels besides that. If you're a real metalhead then it won't be monotonus. If you look somewhere else besides advertised shit bands you might have a revelation and cure your stupidity. God damn it your stupid.

Myhatbroke must make the music he wants to hear. If he can do no better than the bands he criticises, he has nothing to bitch about. But then, I just wrote a response to another post regarding the exceedingly rare phenom of independant and original thought..... :rolleyes:
 
If people actually got out, and listened to some music, they would see there is quite an abundance of good stuff out there. Might even check out the MP3 clinic. There is always new stuff in there. ;)

buy this frigging thing, regardless of the price. morgan agren (incredible swedish drummer of frank zappa & mats/morgan fame), plays w/ fredrik thordendal (meshuggah), as well as plenty of other musicians, including all meshuggeners! crazy, weird, experimental, beautiful, evil-sounding...it's like a cross between meshuggah and mahavishnu orchestra...

this is anything but boring metal.

of course, get everything by meshuggah you can get your hands on. the newer, the better...
 
Metal isn't monotonous. you're forgetting that the purpose of an ostinato is to be repeated.
Mind you, the selection of guitar effect/tone/amp+speaker sim is getting tedious if not monotonous.
A metal band has one weapon - the riff
The riff have one purpose - to be pounded into people's consciousness until they become as one with the band, (& this is where I get silly & you needn't read on unless you want to see an end to it), wear the same arm bands, head bang simultaneoulsy & then endlessly & pointlessly initiate threads about how "my riff maker is bigger than your riff maker" ad nauseum. -

That's monotonous.
