How about Dragonforce and ummm........Disgorge?

I got it....Opeth and Anal C*nt! :(

Yep, nevermind, all metal bands sound the same dude, he was right.
:p

DRAGONFORCE!!! YEAH!!!!

STRATOVARIOUS, SYMPHONY X, SONATA ARCTICA, YEAHHHH!!!!

Opeth sounds exactly like Metallica and Napalm Death. And Chimaira for that matter.

I get Disgorge confused with Alice n Chains all the time.

.............excrematory grindfuckers.......

Two bands:
Nile and Necrophagist
Just check'em out, they stand out of the crowd.

UNAS, SLAYER OF GODS.... THOU SHALT BOW BEFORE THEE.

And stuff. That guy has the cymbal cut to look like a saw blade. Now THAT's metal! Necrophagist is a little too bizarre for my tastes, all the sweeping and stopping and what not. To each his own, as long as its METAL! lol

The original poster of this thread is smoking crack. There is more great metal out there than ever before.

There are distinct sounds coming from bands as varied as Opeth, Down, Black Label Society, Children of Bodom or even Lamb of God.

You obviously don't know where to find good shit if you think avenged seven fold and atreyu is "it".

Alright, I know this is an old thread, but but got me, it's rant time. Excuse me if I repeat what everyone else has already said.

METAL IS NOT DEAD OR MONOTONOUS!!!!!!

Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold suck! Why? Because there was a time when they were good or at least half decent, and now they wear girls pants and makeup. That means they deserve the full five fingered closed fist ball tap. Good for them for conjuring 10 million fans, but Atreyu is far form being a metal band. I'll gave a little more metal cred to A7X for being admitedly talented.

Metal has been on a huge upswing these days, case and point being Slaying on tour with Lamb of God, Mastodon, Children of Bodem and Thine Eyes Bleed and selling out Goddamn arenas! It's great to see that happen again! The last nile album actually had a pretty good run on the Billboard charts, when's the last time a death metal band did that?

All the bands that sound the same and are all over the radio, are not metal bands. They are rock bands being successfuly marketed as metal bands to kids who don't know any better (ahem). Bands you've probably never heard fo and need to include Cephalic Carnage, High on Fire, Wolf, Cryptopsy, and probably Dragonforce. Check em.

You fall under the catagory of "All metal sounds the same because I've never heard the real thing." Good luck with that.

excuse me, Screaming Head. I know you were here first, but there really should only be one Head user on this forum. As I have refrained from using the egregarious "69" in mine, i feel I am the qualified candidate. Please make an alter ego if you wish to continue posting. :D

A lot of commercial music is monotonous in one way or another. There's good metal and crap metal. Or scrap metal.

Perhaps metal has become one of our contemporary folk musics, in a separate sphere altogether from commercial music.

My point exactly. I don't care if some stuff sounds the same, as long as its good. If I could find 6 more bands that sounded just like the Black Dahlia Murder, then I'd have 6 times more Black Dahlia Murdery type stuff to listen to, and I'd be 6 times happier.

Do you listen to At The Gates? :D

What about Wet Skidmark? Those guys kick ass..... :D

No shit, but I'm scared to go to a show. I figure I'd get decapitated with a hedge trimmer or something.

two words

PRIMAL FEAR.

If this band doesnt quench your thirst for metal nothing will.. They have like 6 albums or so worth of material. Just buy it and enjoy.
