Ah, but there ARE shitty fishermen, I've met quite a few...Those are the guys that the boat & marine dealers love to get into their showrooms--They sell lots of penis enlargers to the shitty fishermen....

Hey Zaph, make room...I just went through a full day of trying to get one decent rythm guitar track...I didn't, so I'll be at it again tomorrow...

Eric

Basically, I think the time spent on getting the 'right' sound and the 'right' notes in you're track can be thought of as the ultimate practice session especially if you count all the swearing I do when I come SO Damn Close-but miss the best track.............

I need practice myself. I have a lot of bad habits. It makes recording not so enjoyable when you're having to retake things because of little mess ups and stupid mistakes. I'd rather play in a live setting and record that way since it's easier. I never seem to make mistakes when playing in a live setting, like with a friend or something. But it's harder to get a good recorded sound that way.

I've spent a day working on a simple rhythm track and did about 10 unsuccessful takes before just putting it down and waiting until the next day. The next day I was able to do it in 2 or 3. So just put it down and try again later. And maybe practice in the meantime. ;)

Dude, you need to realign your concept of suck.

You worked hard for four hours and came away with something you were satisfied with.

That was both the practice you needed and the path to the track you wanted.

Sounds like a fucking success story to me.

Nothing worthwhile is easy.

I'm never happy with anything I record, period. Nothing I've tracked sounds good to me. I do very little recording because of that. I'm much happier and feel more comfortable playing live. Of course, I'm not doing that right now either. I think that some people (like me) just don't like recording.
Finish Crowley asshat....I want to bastardize those vocals like nobodies business...... :D

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Supercreep again."

Nevertheless, you are dead-on right. One of the reasons I like home recording is that I can have 300 takes and wind up improving my skills with each fawkup. It is discouraging, disappointing, and the only thing that makes this more than a hobby, instead a growth experience.
Having said that, I still suck, too.

Ow! A little tough love feels good! :D

You're right, of course. And at least I can tell when I suck, and when I don't.

(Unfortunately, on that day, I sucked more than I didn't suck.)

Oh, and:

That was wonderful, sir.

Incredible.

You never cease to amaze us with your musical genius.

Now, if you will excuse your humble servants, we have duties which we must attend to in order to better serve you, your worship.

notCardio, I really like the way you think. ;) :D

I practice a lot, and I still suck. I practice at being sucky. I've come to terms with being sucky. It's not that bad.

At some point, I think you're entitled to call that suckiness "your style." :D
