How can you check to see what effects you have put on a certain track. Ta

I assume you mean you have applied them destructively. If so, I don't know of any way besides listening and trying to determine what's on there.

BTW, it's not usually a good practice to apply your effects destructively, and if you do so, you really should copy and archive the track first.

Nope not destructively, merely I'm not sure whether or not I used the same effects for one bit as I did for the rest, but I want it to sound almost exactly the same, but its too hard to tell :)

Just a little note:

We know you suck, so you could title your threads a little better... ;)

Can't you just double-click the effect in the track to see its settings? (Maybe you're using a pre-HS/SONAR product, in which case I don't know squat - know very little squat in HS/SONAR actually - LOL :D)

If you want to use the same effect for multiple tracks, though, you're better off setting up the effect in an aux.

What I had to do was double click the effect(plug-in) in a track, say FX Reverb, and save it with a name I would recognize (i.e. Song Name, Instrument) later. Then, I could apply the effect with the same settings later on either in another track, aux, or even song.

Does that make any sense?

If the effect is not applied destructively, the both what guttadaj and vice said is the way to go.

You can either look at the effects settings (by double clicking on it) or save it as a user preset (give it a name in the preset name box and hit the save icon). If you save it as a user preset you can apply anywhere you want in the future by calling up the preset from the dropdown menu.

And if you're wondering about Real-time effects and why you can't see the preset-name in the drop-down box after you've closed the plugin and opened it agan, I can tell you that that's a DirectX issue and needs to be solved by Microsoft (meaning it will not happen...)

I'm just curious, has the above been confirmed by cakewalk's people?

I was told the same thing from a Sonic Foundry tech on their forums about the disappearing preset names.

They where the ones that told me... ;)

Doesn't that seem a bit odd? Sonic Foundry and Twelve Tones (probably others) are admittingly releasing a product that is "crippled". I don't know much about programming, or what API's are, It seems that there should be some fix for this that possibly circumvents Microsoft.

I have never thought of it as a missing feature. And since it's nothing Sonic Foundry, Cakewalk, etc. can't do about it (except complain to Microsoft), then I would defininentaly sell my product "crippled" (especially since it's not my fault).

Explaining about a thing to Microsoft basically won't be heard. Especially since it's a such a "small matter"... ;)

I think that saying anyone other than microsoft is selling "crippled" software is a little strong, you can save and recall the presets, it's just that the name is missing when reopened, IF the software companies are following MS's instructions on how to make DX effects, they would not be responsible for the problem.. right? microsoft really has to fix it, but how does anyone "make" MS get off of their rich asses???

I strongly believe plug-in developers and application developers are doing it the right way, but that's probably your point... ;)

It's just that it would be very helpfull sometimes when you don't remember which preset you used, to have the name for it...

Fuck Microsoft!

Ok, maybe crippled was a bit strong. It is just a rather annoying little glitch...
