I should probably just test this, but...

..n'e'ways, as brutha' Q wuda said. I'm in desperate need of attention.. :P

OK.. I have a Mackie 1604 and a HD24, we all know that..
My usual hookup is (example) 8 mics into pres 1-8, direct outs to HD24, HD24 outs to channel 9-16 for monitoring.. This way I leave the the EQ straight, since the direct outs are post EQ. But the signal still passes the EQ..
What about using the inserts to feed the HD24? Not by using the first "click" on the inserts, but by using an insert cable and hook the HD24 up like if it was a compressor.... Insert sends are pre EQ, and I can monitor with EQ on the same channel... And it's not like the "insert function" disapears either..

OK... I can't use balanced cables, but at this point, we're talking 1 meter cables...

Am I overlooking something? Is this old?
Maybe I should just use the search engine....

Hi..

ok.. I *could* have tried this all evening, but I've been busy refreshing this forum to see if someone else knew....

hmmm....

ok, it worked just as I thought, which is great news for me..
an already versatile mixer turned out to be even more versatile than I thought... heh.. now I think of it as an affordable 16-channel mic pre, with a 16 channel line mixer threwn in for free.. damn.. I need patchbays and at least 12 more insert cables..

THANX GUYS!! :D :D

I'm going to be doing almost the same thing in a week, I'm glad that it's workin well!
