I saw a man

I'm digging the groove. I think everything sounds good in the mix and suits the tune. Drums sound fine to me. Maybe more kik, that's about it.

Mix sounds good to me, too. Everything in its space. Can't find any real nitpicks to suggest, so I'm just going to throw something arbitrary out there...... umm, cowbell can come down a bit. :D And yes, I did see SNL... :laughings:

Someone mentioned the repitiveness of the song and I agree. It would be nice to hear some variations in the arrangement and lyrics to keep the listener's attention going.

Thanks for listening Chili. Yes the cow bell is loud. I barely hit it too. As far as being repitive, that was the aim. I laid down a jam track to see if I could go all the way with the drums, get the sounds right and then use this set of tracks and settings as my template. until now i'd start each song new and spend way too much time mixing etc. it's a process.

It's a good groove but kind of monotonous after a few minutes. The cymbals are too loud in the mix for my personal taste and the snare sounds electronic ...tiny and too snappy. I really like the vocal tone...it would be hard to improve upon. I also think the guitars sound great.

Thanks jimi. I will continue to work on the snare sound. I found if I use a dead ringer I get more shell tone but personally I kind of like this snappy tone though I may have gone too far trying to eq the cymbals. Not sure what to do with the snare. The snare sounds like it sounds.
I bought a small floor stand (ProLine MS112 Desk Boom Mic Stand - new gear always inspires me.) to mic the bottom of the snare but haven't got it worked into the mix yet.
The cymbals, yes they are very hard to mix. I dropped the OH track and it helped but maybe I need to drop it more. Need some time away from this one.
Funny the guitars came out with no effort. I took the vocal mic with an AT4033 and laid it down on the floor in front of the left speaker on the Marshall 1922 cab. Go figure.
Glad you like the vocals, them I can't fix. :)

Ah, that makes sense. I love templates.
