I realize these 488’s are pretty cool, but this is ridiculous.

I've seen some things go for ridiculous $$ on eBay but this takes the cake ... and wait ..... the auction is not over yet! :rolleyes:

We're not bashing the 488 ... no way! We're just questioning the buyer who shells out close to $1000 for a used 488 made probably around 10 years ago ... The 488 is cool but for $1000 that's way too much as you can purchase some serious shit in analog recording for that money....

Case in point a 1/4" NEW FOSTEX R8 8 track recorder going for $425 recently on eBay. Add to this a nice Fostex or TASCAM mixer for as little as 100 bucks and you're all set. ;) That would have been a much wiser investment that that 488 that ended at $911 USD.
