I have been recording since 1990. I have used tape machines, and 2 Roland VS-1680s linked for a total of 32 tracks. Thay have been very good, but are starting to really screw up.

I have a HP Desktop Pentium R Dual Core CPU E5300@ 2.60 GHz
Memory 6.00 GB
64 Bit Operating System
Windows Vista ( Which Sucks )

I have Wavelab on my other computer running with Windows XP and really love it. I would like to keep my Wavlab.

I need recording software, hardware, and interface I guess.

I would like to use Windows XP so that I can still use my old Wavlab.

Any suggestions with the computer that I have now, or do I need a new computer also?

I think the computer you have now is just fine.

Do you know much about the plethora of recording software?

Reaper is always a good choice, as it is free to use until you decide to pay the $60 for it. People around here are always giving it a great word, but I have never used it personally.
