I disagree with your approach. That it pissed you off beucase someone else 'salted" the ballots should tell you something. First, the validity of the contest is in question. The next thing is the whole idea that music is somehow a competitive sport. To me, it is not but hey, t thier own.
More importantly, if you found it distrubing that someone else engaged in nefarious pracices, the answer is not to respond in kind but to boycot that particular contest and encourage others to do so. The people who sponsor the contest have a responsibility to maintain the integrity. Frankly, having people on this site enter a vote for Alez's band and productions whether they have heard them o whether they have heard the competition only diminisges the value of the contest to the point that one has to wonder why it was important enough for you and your son to win to the point of wining becoming the means and the end.
The main point is that the integrity and therefore the meaning and value of the contest were severely dminished before youre request. After you request, the contest becomes for all intents and purposes, completely meaningless. And, finally, I reiterate, musical contests seem to miss the poinst of music anyway. I canno ever recall purchasing a CD or Vinyl record becuase the artist won some kind of radio sponsored contest.
By the way, this is no way is a reflection on some of the nice posts you have shared on this site and other sites and your personaly interity in the pro audio forum, it is "Soccer Dad" mentality and since you are a parent, unless you were superhuman, you would have a hard time avoiding this phenomenon completely. For that I feel for you, I just disagree.
