I need some help reparing an early 70's synth

As stated in the subject, I have one that I need some help with. I had it working at one point but not very well as it appeared to have been worked on by a hack who did not know what he was doing.

Now I took another look at it to see what was going on and this time I did it with a friend of mine who is a TV repairman with experience in circutry from the era. What he says is that the boards are all prototype stuff and every component is military spec'ed.

What I know at the moment is that the first thing that I haver to do is find a replacement for the transformer. After that there will be other work that has to be done but we can cross each bridge as we come to it. and as I say, I have a guy with the specific experience to help me here.

Does anyone have any clue what I could do next? Links would be nice.

I'd say if DIY repairing such thing, then at least get some basic idea about general/or say common possible problems with analog synthesizers and some minimal idea about troubleshooting.... assuming you already have some basics of repairing electronics in your hands/head...
There was a lil' book, which I have and read some , but never really practically needed. Was trying to find it on e-bay that book - ... no luck. Found some used at amazon: Troubleshooting and Repairing Electronic Music Synthesizers by Delton T. Horn. Now the prices there are rather high :eek: :eek: ... jeeeee, what's this? some kinda' hot collectable item or something... or is demand high? I don't get it. I bought Mine some over ten years ago or so, and it has 16 buck sticker/print on the back... :confused:
anyhow, that book is not going to teach you really anything, but, I'd say if you have some general idea in electronics/repair and are getting into dealing with synthesizers (or got dead or sick one on your table and have no freakin' idea where to start trying to save it or bring it back to life), then it will take you from nowhere to somewhere...sort of.

Vintage analog synthesizer keyboard rebuild kits - ??? ... I personally have no idea about it, but you may at least take a look at this.
