I need more volume D16xd Korg

I have a Korg D16XD Recording studio
(hard disk recorder) I like the sound and everything but I have a problem. The problem is that I dont get enough volume without it clipping compared to other cds mine is really low.I was wondering if theres anything I could buy to make my recordings louder If theres a way to connect and amplifier to the system or Ive heard of a mic preamp something like that If that would help Please help me.

A compressor will help you boost the sounds of your HD. But, I think you might be doing something wrong when you mix your tracks into a stereo track for CD burning.

Like make sure your master is all the way up. And, if your Korg is like my 2816, once you do the stereo track for CD burning, the input volume is controlled by faders 1 and 2. If not, look in your manual or contact Korg or a korg site.

thanks for the help im gonna try that compressor thing. So a mic preamp wont help that much right?

A compressor will help. Also, if you are mixing the tracks poorly it will cause the same problem.

If your monitors don't reproduce the sounds you're mixing adequately, you might have something like the bass instrument way up and clipping your mix but, you won't hear that with bad monitoring.

why bother?

I have a d16 too and you have onboard compressors and they work pretty well might I add

First learn how those compressors work and put out as much volume as you can from the song without sucking out the dynamics too much.

A proper mix will already have an almost maximum output at this stage.

Then take that CD you burned and do all your mastering in your computer.

You'll have a lot more control over the general volume of your mix and probably more effects at your disposal.

One thing that really helped me to learn how to output masters to maximum is comparing it to an actual cd track from a professionnal recording that I feel is what I should aim for.

You can learn a lot just by looking at a professional waveform.
