Ok I got $800 dollars to spend and I need to start off with some things that I can record with. The recording will be mostly for rapping, but at times a singer. I got a Trinity keyboard for beats, I got a Dell computer thats about to be completely wiped. I know I need a set of Monitors (nothing big just something to get the job done for now) 1-2 Mics, The interface thing (Can someone please explain what this thing does?) And I guess a Program for recording, but which one? I only got 800 maybe a lil more, but 8 for now. Is there anything else that I need? (oh i hear about sound cards??? Is it a must have?)

Im trying to get it ASAP so any and all comments are welcomed and please for the ones that know whats going on (dont let me get some B.S. lol)

I thank every1 in advance.

Bizzle,

There are probably hundreds of equipment combinations you could get to start with in your budget range - particularly if you already have the computer (you didn't give the specs on your Dell, is it reasonably up to date?). Either of the package deals you asked about should be fine to get started with - if all you're gonna record is a single rapper/singer along with tracks from your Trinity, then the cheaper one should be enough. The more expensive package gives you more inputs (to record more mics and/or instruments at the same time), plus an extra mic and stand and what look to be slightly better monitors. I can't comment on the quality of either of those sets of monitors because I haven't heard them. Both packages include Cubase LE, which should be a great software program to start with. And both look to be good values - I don't see how you could go wrong with either setup. The only other thing I can think of, is make sure your computer has a firewire interface if you're gonna use one of these bundles, and also ensure your PC is up to the task of recording. If you post the specs on your computer I can comment on that. Other than that, my advice is to get started with the basics, dig in and start learning and doing. In time, you'll probably think of a thousand more things you want :D

Dude, all your questions are answered in total detail at this website:

http://www.google.com

Just type in your question (i.e. "what the fuck is an interface thing?") and the answers will magically appear.
