I didnt know wether to post this in this section or the newbie section but I want to set up a home studio using a digital recorder like with a Yamaha AW4416 im going to get... Ive searched many of the sites that people have already suggested and I tried looking for someone with my problem but I could only find ppl wanting to do analog or something else :( Well I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this setup is viable and how I could set it up... Sorry for bothering anyone and thx alot!!

The Yamaha AW4416 is certainly a viable home recording solution. You would need to add a microphone for vocals and accoustic instruments, a good set of studio headphones for tracking, and some nearfield monitors (speakers) for mixing. You will also need a room of some sort for recording and it helps to have a space that can modified with accoustic treatments (diffusers, bass traps, absorption foam, etc.). If you record vocals or accoustic instruments, it's also very helpful to have a quiet setting that is relatively isolated from outside sounds. Eventually, you may supplement your setup by adding external devices to improve your recorder's preamps, A/D converters, or built-in effects.

Good answer. Now the question is, what are you going to record? Just you one or two tracks at a time? An entire band all tracked at once ten or twelve tracks at once? That dictates what else you may have to add to the list (like a headphone amp and 6 or 7 sets of headphones, enough mics and preamps to get around a drum kit, mic stands, cables, etc).

Thx

Thx for the answers!! Well Im going to be recording 1 track at a time... I just have 1 question, when Ive recorded with the yamaha, can i send all the data i recorded into my computer so I add effects and such?? thanks!
