I am new here and hope I am in the right place.
The head was kicking in and out so I replaced the capstan motor. Now the head stays in like it is suppose too, but the speed is way too slow. I mean slow. The speed trimmers and pitch control do not help. Does anyone have any ideals about this ? Help would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks,
Rockytop

Are you sure you got the correct motor, with the proper voltage and RPM?
Did you try replacing the capstan belt before the motor?
:spank::eek:;

I second the question about the proper motor. Are you sure it's the right one?

Yes I think I have the right motor. Bought it new at audio labs of Georgia . Mabuchi EG-530KD-2B.
I also installed a new belt. I guess the motor could be a reject.

Any thoughts ?
Thanks

Thank you for the part number. This motor is a dual speed motor with 4 electrical contacts.

This is speculation at this point, as I've not inspected the guts of the 464 mechanism workings, but perhaps if there is a +, -, A and B connection,... and 4-wire connection,... one wire lead would be 1600 RPM and the other wiring configuration would be 3200 RPM, based on the High/Normal switch setting? The 464 is a dual speed machine, so (I'm assuming again) there must be a contact for high speed and low speed.

I may be able to find my service manual for the 464 (not sure I have one), but I believe I have one for the 424mkII. Once located I can look at the circuit diagrams in the motor section and perhaps offer more helpful & definitive advice.

On this circuit diagram for the 112, it references 3 other parts that must be changed on the pitch control assy to accommodate this motor for the 112, and a kit provided. I'm not sure if the 112 is a dual speed motor. I'm not sure if this applies to the 464, at all.

[EDITED; See Pics]

My Friend,...

I went to Audio Labs of Georgia web page, and there is no EG-530KD-2B listed at all!

The next closest part # is EG-530AD-2B, a 2400 RPM motor.

Not to second guess you, as the info you provided is very clear, but is the part number on the motor a "KD" variety?

Are we to assume you bought the last one from ALG?

Thank you for your consideration & I hope to hear back that you've resolved this issue.

:spank::eek:;)
