I need help w/new system conf.

Look at the Hook-up guide in the section for computer setup. Assign the channels that you are recording from to the alt 3/4 output. Send the alt 3/4 output to the line in of the soundcard. Assign the channels that you send the Line out of your soundcard into to the main/master outputs.
Check out Mackie for all kinds of info on your mixer.

Hey,!!! The mixer doesn't have a Alt 3/4 out or if it does it doesn't say that if you check the Mackie URL above and click rear panel you can see there is not alt3/4 out so what do i do now?
The hook-up guide shows there is a alt 3/4 but i checked on my 1604 mixer and it doesn't have one?

Looks to me like you can use either sub out 1/2 or sub out 3/4.
That must be what they mean by the alt 3/4.
On the channels that you are using to record .... push the sub out bus button you want to use. Since you will be sending the output of the soundcard through the mixer also, I don't think you will want to push the buttons for including those sub outs in the main mix.

You have a very capable mixer there. You should spend some time reading through the manual and familiarizing yourself with it's routing capabilities.
There are many possible ways of connecting and routing the signals with that mixer.

ted i make the suggestion for valid reasons. lets keep it friendly. i'm not into pooping contests. if you notice i try my best to help people
where i can.
ITS SPECIFICALLY THESE small mackie and behringer mixers that people i know had problems with. even experienced folks sometimes get lost and press the wrong buttons inadvertently. SO i found it made my friends life easier by suggesting not using the control section on these small mixers ,
as they got confused. particularly newbies.
and instead using another means like i suggested. the main idea being the less problems of error/wrong switches being pressed.
by the way - the little comment about powertracks is uncalled for. if there was another package that packed as big a number of features for the money i would rave about that as well. anyone can check if i'm lying by talking
to other powertracks users on the pg forum. I DONT LIE TO PEOPLE.
being human i might make mistakes as per the latency nomenclature BUT I DONT LIE ! the mistake imho is that pg dont advertise powertracks enough so newbies dont know about it.

Apparently, no matter how clearly I've explained my point, you just don't seem to get it. Please, RE-READ my last post. Read it slowly, read it twice if you must. I did NOT say you were lying. I did NOT say your method would not work. I said, quite clearly I thought, that adding a cassette deck WOULD NOT improve latency. And it won't. I also pointed out that offering a solution for a non-existent problem using improper terminology was probably only going to confuse someone who is coming here for assistance and doesn't know any better.

If Velocity had posted that he's having problems with signals feeding back while monitoring or that he was getting an echo or some such, then your suggestion would have been right on point. It's like telling him to flush his radiator when he has a flat tire. It might be a good idea to do it, but it's going to cost him more money and he might not need it. Besides, it's not going to fix his tire and the two things are unrelated.
