Okay, I might need to set up an analog recording setup, but I need your advice first. Okay I have a good digital setup. I have a digidesign card, but I havent started recording, but I think I may have a change of mind. Okay, I don't need to record a band or anything, so no live intrsumentship is to be done. I am a rapper and I buy my beats from my producers. I will record beats in my own studio later, but for this project I am just recording my vocals, AND I WILL ONLY NEED TO RECORD ONE VOCAL AT A TIME!!! I need to know if I should just keep my digital or if I should record only my vocals in analog, and just do the mixing and mastering in digital. YES I WILL MIX THE VOCALS ONLY IN DIGITAL. I just need to record them straight in to the tape, and load them into digital. I need to know what I have to have to record JUST the vocal on to reels. I have a good microphone. All I need to know is what kind of pre-amp I need to have. I also need to know what kind of recorder I need, this is the MOST important thing. I also need something to load the beats into the computer. So please, what do I need to record just the vocals!!!. And can it be done for about 1,000 dollars!!!! PLEASE HELP ME PEOPLE!!!! IT MUST BE GOOD QUALITY TOO!!!!

How many vocals are on each cut?

If only up to two, you can pick up a TASCAM 32-2 and a small mixer for well under a grand.

If more than two but less than five, a TASCAM 34-4 and a small mixer will work. Still less than a grand.

You'll probably need a compressor. RNC is less than two bills.

I have an eight channel four-buss TASCAM M-30 for sale. $50 plus shipping if you're interested.
