I'm looking for something simple, like an amp, ready to plug the mic.

I heard that some amps for acustic guitars, works great for vocals, but i don't really know.

Anyway, what i'm trying to avoid is the trouble of having to carry around with a mixing console and PA Speakers.

Thanks in advance.

My best guess would be that a keyboard amp would do the job. You'll need to make sure that it has multiple inputs (1 for the mic, and 1 for the karaoke track), and level controls for each input would be nice.

Otherwise, check out the Fender Passport series, which are smaller and portable PA systems with multiple inputs. They're more expensive but probably better suited to the task.

We are planning to use it just for vocals. Karaoke cds are going to be played on a regular stereo, in the background.

1 input should be fine i think.

Any model you can recommend ?

How about just a cheap PA? Couple o' speakers and a powered amp will do the trick...even those little 80 watt Squier packages will work (200-300 bucks). That way, you'll get 4 channels in there when some drunk jackass feels the need to pick up an extra mic and let everyone know how great he is at backing up "Margaritaville".
