Hey--
I need a cassette mulitracker that is capable of recording 8-tracks (or more) simultaneously. I have no particular budget range. Any ideas?

Nice to see someone here that still likes analog.

The Tascam 238 is a good eight-track recorder. You can pick them up cheap too on E-bay. Keep watching the ads.

This would go very good with a Mackie 1604VLZ. You can use eight of the channels for tape input and eight for tape returns. The 238 has DBX NR built in and several other nice features.

Go to E-bay and type in Tascam. And no, I'm not selling one there.
But I wouldn't mind getting one.

...and let's not forget the 688 midistudio

Per my other response to this multiple post...

The 688, though old, has everything you need. The mixer is built in, too. Original list: $3,500. 00 or thereabouts. You can find them for under $600. 00 on e-bay.

Forget the cassette and get a 788 portastudio... You will be glad you did.. It's as easy to use as a cassette multi, but it has so much more and sounds waaaay better..

I was going to suggest the same thing until I noticed that he needs 8 simultaneous tracks...and the 788 is only good for 6. Too bad, because the sound is much better on the 788 than cassette (even if it's not analog!).
