I won't feel bad if there are some things you dont' like so good ahead and rip it apart!! Thanks... just click the link and click on the song "shades" www.nascentrock.com/music ( i am gonna try to put it on here, but i dont' know if it will work, so just go to the site if it doesn't work...)

Well the mix is great!

The singing is nice and the playing is very passable.

Sounds very pro on my micromonitors.

What are you doing at homerecording.com?:D

The song is a bit dull in my opinion.

Sounds like a mix bewtween "SilverChair" and "STP".

The mix is pretty good but the song didnt grab me in any way, shape ,form or fashion.

I agree with what Kramer and Jake have said...Great recording! But the song itself..kind of sounds like you have sang it 1,001 times, and you're tired of it. MHO.

i like the song and the overall feel of the recording... the band seems great. The singer was a bit nazaly (sp?) so it was kind of hard to understand him, but that's ok... it would have cool to add some vocal harmonies in the chorus... or at least some prominent BGVs... i think that would have really lifted the song up....

well first i will try to reply to all, ok thanks for all the info on the mix!! Sorry the song didn't grab you in anyway....(i need to learn how to write songs i guess...) but anyway the drums were ALL real. Just mics used. No samples or even replacing was done. Just different eqs and such(who doesn't do that..) And someone said that i should put harmonies on the chorus.... there are in there. I did do that. I didnt' mix em real loud, but you can hear them. Well thank you all again!!

oh and the other thing is, we did this at a studio, i engineered it,(except when i was singing/playing guitar) but on the drums and bass. So i do have reason to be on this site, because my homerecordings ain't so good... basically i just do have the fricken money to buy like a bunch of c3000s and akg solid tubemics. God i love those things.

yeah i thought i heard some back in the back after i listened a little bit more... that's why i also added "or at least some prominent BGVs" - i think you should bring them up in the mix...

Overall a very nice recording. I love the reverb you have on the vocals. Can you give some details?

I thought the bass could use a little boost and maybe a bit more punch.

That "thin" guitar in the intro was ok. But I thought it should be used only for the intro. Then kick into something bigger and stay with it.

Those distorted guits during the chorus were nice and thick sounding. Maybe a little boost in the low mids would warm them a bit, but just a little boost. And maybe a little cut in the mids too.

Little clicks at :07, 2:54 and 2:56. Maybe a little plosive at :40? Not sure. Another at :54.

Lots of nitpicks. Good recording.

Sounds good especially the drums. The thin guitar sound is too thin for my tastes. vox is not upfront enough for me to tell what your singing and the vox tone was ,well, like he was singing through his nose. Dirty guitars sound great.

Peace
Bill

I wanna listen too!!!
I'm stranded at the office tonite, but Ill check it out tomorrow.

I'll agree with the quality, I really like when you bust it out in this song.

It's like wildcard's half-sister if that makes any sense.

sounds pretty good . THere`s enough room for make that bass and the drums a little fatter. good mix and clean playing.
