Taming the World--for now
.....but I am looking at the best solution under $1000. What I need to do is run analog signal from my console's 8 sub outs to 8 lines in to the computer. I want to drop 8 tracks at a time from my recording rig to Cubasis. The ins need to come from the console because I use the same console for analog tape and my Mackie MDR. (Although not at the same time!) I want the sound quaility to be very good so the price point isn't fixed in stone.

Thanks in advance, Dave. aka up-fiddler

Yes I HAVE used the search option but I don't seem to understand what is the best avenue to pursue.

You're cheapest, fastest, and probably best option, would be to pick up an external IDE hard-drive caddy to pull the drive from the MDR and then transfer via USB or firewire... Transfering via an interface would be real time, files would go a lot quicker.

Let me know if you're interested in this option and I'll provide details on venders for compatible caddies and external housings.

Thanks much! That's not an option I hd given any thought to and makes a great deal of sense for the MDR. It won't help for the analog tape machine but dropping 16 tracks from tape to the MDR and then caddying to the pc might be a viable option. More to think about......

what file format does the mdr use?? the external HD should work fine as long as file types are the same... probably wave anyway... as an alternative tascam makes a relitivily inexpensive muti channel for usb2 think the # is 1604 (possible brain fart on the #) it runs less than $400...

You must spread some rep.......... Still....+1 for the help. Thanks, Dave.
