in the smiths, modest mouse, or both?
i was never too big a fan of his in the smiths(but i was at one point a smiths fan)
but ive really enjoyed what hes done with modest mouse, even though the band is a completely different entity now then it was early on... ive decided i have to view early mouse and later mouse as different bands or else i cant appreciate either

Love his playing and writing in the Smiths! Didn't know he had anything to do w/Modest Mouse. He's done nice work with Kirsty MacColl, too. He's tasteful and intricate, and he writes great chord changes. I think the whole Smiths band was incredible, but Johnny Marr's music was the perfect upbeat compliment to Morrisey's glum lyrics.
