Ok I have a SM57 in front of my combo amp and I like it.I have had it for about 6 months.I have Been studying mic placement for about 6 months also with my sm57. I have not got alot of guitar practice in couse im always moving the mic, listening, testing stuff. At first I had a musicians friend 25 foot cabe xlr to 1/4 and I had to turn the gain way up and had hiss noise. But I got a mogami gold 15'foot cable and it is great.I dont have to have mutch gain at all and noise is so low I dont notice it at all.I have the mic placed about 2''from the grill just off center on the cone at like a 45 degree angle.
So I am thinking of adding a mic so I can use 2 on my combo amp at one time one close and one a little more back to get some room ambiance.
I was thinking of a Large Diaphram Condenser Mic Like Rode NT-1A Or I know ya dont like Behringer But the B-1.
I have a yamaha mg10/2 mixer and plan on always playing the amp loud. The amp is in a simi sound treated closet.
But when I stand in the closet I like the way it sounds. I want to get it to my mixer and mix it in with the 57. This was my plan all along. I just read to start with the 57.Am I way Off Base Here???..
