I have a problem with my mic...

well what it is , its that i have a mic right is a MXL MXL 990 Condenser Microphone that i bought and i have an usb interface which is a mobilepre m-audio right then what it is when i spit my rhymes onto the mic if i rap like in a mid-low tone voice kind of like that the sound does not get distorted but if i rap like loud & hard the sound sounds very distorted...
well my question is why does that sound comes out like it, and i had another mic that came with my pc never sounded like it u could hear all those "p's" and "s's" because i did not have a pop filter but the sound never came out distorted but the mic was directly connected into the pc....what could be the problem?...i will apreciate it if anyone answer my q.

well, take a step back away from the mic, turn down the gain on the preamp, and use some compression after you record. that should help.

My thoughts exactly. I have an 990 as well and they can get harsh very quickly because of the high end peak in them. Just play with your gain and try not to yell too loudly in it.
