I have a new one, but....

Shit man, you may have something there. It's a double chorus and there's alot of space between the vocal lines. I was thinking of adding a longer melodic vocal line singing something else, but vetoed it because the song is on the verge of being too "message-y" and almost "whine-y". But a lead just might do it. It needs something for sure. Thanx bro, I'm definitely going to try it.

Timboz, in case you come back to this thread, I hope you read this. Just to elaborate on my answer to your question. Besides a bit of delay and reverb, I also use THIS TECHNIQUE on almost all my songs. The whole article is interesting, but go down to the 4th paragraph "The Motown 1960's Exciting Compressor". I do it by bouncing (not copying) my lead vocal track to another track, so I have 2 vocal tracks. I eq the lo and mid bands the same, but boost 10k on the bounced track about 3db. I find it really helps my vocals cut through without having to be LOUD. I then pan one to about 11 o'clock and the other to about 1 o'clock. Hope this helps you.

Timboz, there's a short delay of 88ms from Micro-verb and a plate reverb from another micro-verb. That's about it. I actually thought this vocal track might be too dry for the type of song.

I think it *is* a tad dry...

So there. Neener neener. :)

BRILLIANT idea!!! Gotta try this!!!
Pasted, for the lazy....
The Motown 1960's Exciting Compressor

With the Motown mix approach there were problems. If you wanted the lyrics to be heard you had to use a lot of compression on the vocal so that the the softer words could still be heard over the higher-level music. In addition you boosted the "presence range" (around 5 kHz) with an equalizer. The only problem with this is that it took the life & natural dynamics out of the vocal.

Lawrence Horn came up with a brilliant idea. He took the vocal and split the signal so that it when to 2 console channels. Before the vocal signal went to the second channel, it went through a compressor. Now he had two channels of the vocal - one compressed and one uncompressed. On the uncompressed vocal he added very little with the equalizer and he added the reverb. On the compressed channel, he compressed the h**l out of it and added a ton of high-frequency equalization. What he would do is bring up the "natural" channel to full level to get the basic natural sound on the vocal. On the other compressed and equalized channel, he brought this up just enough to add excitement and presence to the vocal sound.

The result was nothing less than amazing. In the mix the vocal sounded very natural and bright. None of the music ever "stepped on" the vocal and you could hear each and every syllable in the lyrics. The vocal never got lost.

Right on Phil. Of course, in my description of how I use this technique, I failed to mention the most obvious thing. I compress the hell out of the second track.

And, by the way, though I've never needed to try it, I've heard it works great on snare too. For all I know, it probably works great on everything if used right.

If you think about it, it's really a band-limited stereo compression technique, and should be easily duplicated on one stereo channel with a compressor plugin. I'll try a side by side and see.

Rami...dude you rock! This is a real cool song/arrangment..I love the descending thing in the chorus..very Beatlish to my ears!Drums /guitars sound cool I like your guitar style alot..your solos compliment the song well, not to flashy and definetly say something.Great vocals!!I really enjoyed listening to this one!!

Ha, I do that sometimes. That's rough when I'm just jamming and think I "discover" a great riff & record the whole song... then later I recognize it as another song I like :(

I haven't uploaded it, but I recorded a lead exactly like you said, where you said...It's SOOO much better. I'll put it up later...thanx man

Just uploaded a newer mix with most people's suggetions in mind. I didn't change the distorted guitar on the minor chord like Tim suggested, but that's the next thing I'll try. I'm just not sure how to tackle that one yet. I added delay and reverb on the vox. And I added a lead at the end of the double chorus at the end as per SnakeDog...It's getting there...

Missed the newer version yesterday. Listening now... :D
I still think this is one of your better tunes.....and I've liked them all. This one just has alot of dynamics to it, and some of the sounds are very full and rich. Again, nice work Rami......As usual.... :p

Thanx buddy, I appreciate that. Funny how some songs take forever and never end up coming close to sounding as cool as they did in your head when they were first conceived. This one was recorded in one day without too much effort and pretty much came out the way I heard it in my head...strange.

It's also weird how this song has a "Tuesday's Gone" type of feel to it. I listened to "Tuesday's Gone" yesterday just to make sure they're not too similar, and they're not. But I can see how people are reminded of it a little by this one. But the weird thing is that, all the while that I was recording this, I was worried it was too much like "6th Avenue Heartache" by the Wallflowers. Only because the chord progression in the verse is almost the same. But it turns out it's nowhere near the same.
Freaking music...always keeps you on your toes...then knoocks you on your ass.

Classic Rami! It has been to long since I listened to one of your tunes!

Thanks, another great one!

Nah...Soundclick is down right now it seems. That site goes down more often than my ex-girlfreind. It' all the better that you didn't get to hear it for now anyway, I'm uploading a new version as soon as I can get on there.

Soundclick finally woke up again. I uploaded a newer version with wetter vocals and a lead at the end as per Snakedog's suggestions. Still thinking about working on a bass part thanx to Llarion. I think that's next.

Who is this RAMI guy?????
Some drunk Canadian fella???? :D
Sorry....I'll leave now....
