I had a dream about a new recording technique

I had a weird dream about the lead singer/guitarist of another group, who will remain nameless, and they told me a 'trick' for live guitar about using two noise gate's to make it sound smooth. One was a noise gate at the beginning that cut off the guitar before the sound got too low (and/or the fret started buzzing), but then the note was extended with reverb or some sustain pedal. The second gate was used on a delay pedal with a 'reverse' effect on it that was played almost instantly (so that even if you started off with a fret buzz on a note, it would play it backwards and sound clean) and then that was gated off fairly quickly.

In the dream it sounded great. I don't know. Has this happened to anyone else... dreaming about new techniques.

If your frets are buzzing, you need to get your guitar looked at. That would be much cheaper than two gates, a reverb and a reverse delay.

If your frets buzz because of poor technique, you can change that for free!

If I'm having a lot of trouble with a band, I usually end up dreaming about it. Just your brain's way of trying to figure stuff out because it thinks you're too stupid to :D

I had that very same dream.

Only Jessica Alba was in it, and she was teaching me that gating technique while in the "girl on top" sexual position.

I like my dream better. You get the shaft, even when you're sleeping. Ha ha!

well it wasn't really the fret buzzing, the result was that every note was like perfect in volume and sustain and it was just clean.

Dude, lay off the Dairy Queen Blizzards before you go to sleep, already.
