I don't care for the click.. click.. click timing either. I have either just pulled up a simple drum pattern in my SR-18 or in MT PowerDrumKit when I need it steady.

I'm not annoyed by the click but I prefer hihat hits so that's what I use most of the time.

Yeah, I use anything musical. Usually a stick click or side stick. Sometimes a HH or a drum beat. A good drummer also works well. LOL

If I am going to use the click, I don't mind its ping-ping clickiness. For me, it is literally a timing reference, nothing more, nothing less. If I had a drum machine readily to hand, I'd use that as a click. However, I couldn't be bothered looking for a steady beat in the myriad sounds there would be {or maybe that should be the other way around} so I've just trained myself to adapt to ping-ping-ping-pock ! I utilize different time signatures quite a bit so if I'm not laying down that bit with the drummer then I'll use the click. The irritating ping-ping comes into its own when you're on an 11/4 or some such timing.

I normally use a cowbell sound, but I don't accent the 1. It allows me to change time signatures without having to create a song map. I'm in charge, the 1 is where I say it is

I've gotta hear those drums kinda guy. I will use a click track for "tempo detection" in Cubase but primarily to get bars lined up, then the click is muted.

Funny, I have to have the drums for the groove, but I still have the click so that I can manipulate between the groove. I usually use both.

Yes I will rarely use parts of a click track as a cue for vocals, but not often.
