So I'm putting it here. Most of my buddies hang out in this forum and it's where I spend most of my time.

I'd like to know what you all think of my CD cover. I would have put it in the "Marketing Your Music/Publicity" section, but I'm not trying to sell anyone anything right now. Just want to know if the cover cuts it.

Also, I will send anyone a copy for free until Aug 12 (A week from Saturday) if you e-mail me your address. Just go to my site and hit the E-MAIL section if you want a free copy.

To see my cover, just go to my home page at www.ramirami.com
Thanx alot.

(of course, there a few of you out there that will get a free copy regardless of whether you get me your address in time or not...You know who you are)

Personally I don't think it's a great idea to associate a child with sex, drugs and money. You certainly don't want to make it your main theme. I think it will only hurt your marketing campaign.

But I'm the child...Hmmmm...I know what you're saying. But I think a child is a strong image for anything. Like U2 calling their album "WAR" and having the picture of a kid in it. I'm not arguing with you, I asked for opinions so I will take everything people say into account. I just thought the contrast would be cool of the innocence of a child with the thoughts of sort of "things to come"...Besides, if it bothers enough people, it might actually stir up more attention than someting that doesn't bother people a bit.
Again, just trying to give you my take on it. Not trying to dismiss what you're saying. Thanx alot.
Hey, it ain't written in stone. I can change it at any time.

It might shock people into buying it.

I think that its a bit low quality but the idea is MINT!! I like it, it represents the truth that some people are too ignorant or just too stupid to see. The kid and the text under it is great and that should be left there but i think that the pictures should be changed (representing the same things) and maybe in black and white following the theme of the kid and only have the text in colour? I dont know what it is but everything above the kid seems a bit low quality especially the 'RAMI' looks like it was done in word. Please dont take offence im just trying to offer my constructive advice! Otherwise VERY good i deffinatly like the idea and of course the music on your site. Thanks

It's cool to argue the point, that's what I do all day at work is argue. Hmmm, funny I actually get paid to argue :) and I work in marketing :D

I hear what you are saying too, but it's like stealing the innocence away from a child when you fill his head with those thoughts. Yeah, it may stir up attention but you want people to buy it and that is a hard sell.

Thanx alot for that. Don't worry about giving me the skinny. Everything in black and white except the text might be a great idea. I think it looks "cheaper" on my site than the actual CD cover does, but I'll see about changing the font or whatever it takes to make it look better. Thanx alot.

Personally, I like it...but I am not offended by much, and don't look too far into anything. NY brings up a good point to at least think about. I think that maybe the Rami part needs to get centered somehow....right under the kid, or over it all....might just make it look cleaner. Showcase the Artist, and cd title both centered, if you see what I mean.... :D

email sent......

:D :D :) :)

About the cover
- I can see what NY means, but there have been "controversial" covers in the past. Some bordering on obscene. Yours is just suggestive ;)
- I find the white background a little stark. Wouldn't mind some color there.
In the end it's your choice.....

PS - I have the same guitar chord chart on my wall...lol.....

I hear thee....Except that it's not conventional marketing when you're dealing with rock and roll. That's why I'm less concerned with what "people might think" in this context. I'm just thinking out loud here...Marketing is the least of my strengths, that's why I'm asking for opinions...I'll think about it and see what others have to say. Thanx again for taking the time.

Thanx Dog...Seems so far that concensus is there's something not right with the "RAMI"...Either placement or appearence. Thanx a million so far guys.

IDO...you would have got a copy for free even if you never left me your address. I would have hunted you down and given it to you.

hehe....No, I'm a dick in another forum...Not this one. This one actually matters to me. :D

Typing while viewing...
I saw this earlier and right away saw the controversy presented by the artwork. That IMO is very fitting for both your music and today's society. I really don't see that as too far out nowadays and actually think it's a good idea and reflection of the artist. People, in a way, sort of know what their getting into with that.
The font on the “thinkin’ out loud part” is perfect for a child's image.
The RAMI on the right, is a bit random feeling, for some reason it doesn’t even give me the impression the artist is RAMI.
I’m mixed on the plain white background. I like the way it blends with the black and white photo, but at the same time think you should see what it’d look like with a little bit of color. Although I’m guessing you already did. The black and white gives it a newspaper feel, highlighting the stories/themes of drugs/hot chicks, and so on with color in the cover...
Overall the cover looks childish in presentation, like some parts were almost made with crayons, which is fitting to the theme.

Anyway, I'm bored at the moment and thought I’d pick apart artwork for a few minutes for the fun of it :D

It doesnt really do it for me, sorry :o

The idea is a good one, I got it instantly that it was meant to be you. To me it doesnt capture the music, which is very well produced. Your stuff SOUNDS expensive :D like you have made a high tech money studio CD, the cover doesnt capture whats gonna be inside. Umm, thats a compliment.

As far as offensive: for me it's not. If I went that way I would go all out with more boobies, more bongs and more symbolic graft.

I guess that's kind of what I was trying to get at with the spacious white background, probably not enough there IMO.

EDIT: BTW LePaisleyWeasel, I can delete posts too, I still got you with the neg rep before you could delete yours, have fun with that. You lose ;)

I don't see anything wrong with it. Being an old-fart I think that it just shows what kids are thinking about these days. And they're thinking these things younger and younger. I like it! BTW, is that a young pic of you? Before the muscles? hahahaha

Sorry... couldn't resist...

Guys...I'm stopped off at work and I'm just using the computer really quickly> I appreciate all the responses. Looks like I might have to re-work it. That's why I asked, I trust most of everyone's opinion here. I'll respond in more detail when I get home...Thanx alot.

P.S. Anonomous neg rep is so1985, especially when it's a harmless grey chicklet...hehe.

Haha, I got two anonomous neg reps for my post, this is my favorite one though.. "the first of MANY more negative rep points to come.shoo-bee-doo" Hey WEASEL, I like how both your neg reps moved me down ZERO, nice try loser :p

The Idea is nice.

I`m not sure if I think it suits your music, I know you`ve got a great sense of humor.

But I know you take your music seriously, and your tunes are serious , so the Cover would kinda present the package wrongfully.

Cool cover, but its note for you IMHO.

Its just like when I suggested the name "Cock-smugglers", for my new band, It wasent very welcome :D

Don't be sorry. It's hard enough hearing my own music with perspective. Imagine how hard it is to judge this considering I'm not an artist or a graphic artist.
Seems to me the general concensus is that the content may not be offensive, but the look doesn't suit the music. I wonder if playing with a colored background would help. The cover isn't supposed to be funny, really. I think it's pretty "symbolic" for lack of a better word, and not to try to sound too serious, either.
I'm not worried about offending people. This is rock and roll. Compared to what has already gone down in rock history, I think this is pretty damn tame, actually.
Maybe I went for too much of a "cheap" look. It was deliberate, yet doesn't seem to suit the sound if I understand what most people said.

Thanx alot, guys. This is the kind of input I was looking for. :D
