Who makes the best cheap mic stands? British cheap, that is. These aren't going to be used as part of a PA set up, nor in a Commercial studio with heavy traffic, so don't worry too much about durability. As long as they stay together under normal home studio usage I'll be happy. I currently have a Stagg short boom stand that seems okay (i.e. it doesn't fall over if you look at it).

Also cables. Can I pay less than £30 for a 10 metre cable and get decent results?

Mark, The stands I used I got at my local musc store for two for £20. They are American stands (big thread rather than small thread) and are really good. Can't place the name of them though..... They are really durable for stage use, making them even better in the studio.

As for cables, I bought 10x 8 metre XLR-XLR cables from a guy off of ebay. I haven't had any problems with them and teh quality is fine. They cost me £6 each with £3 postage. Pretty good huh?

If your interested I'll PM you his email address.
