I bet you didn't think there'd be a quiz

I just found this quiz over at Tape Op. It's kind of cool to see where you stand. They are all True/False answers but they give in depth responses at the end. It reminded me of how much I don't know. I'm sure it's all really basic stuff, but I missed a few that I thought I should get right. So, thought you may find it interesting.

Pretty cool - if you stop to think about the question the answer will pop out - if you know what your doing.

Got 9 out of 10 right! I'm not bragging on myself, I'm bragging on the good answers I've gotten on this forum. Most of my answers were based on advice I have been given here. Many thanks to all you guys (and gals) who have given great responses and sound advice.

8 of 10. . . That was a little tougher than it looked on the surface - I like how they set you up to assume the wrong answer on several questions...

Eh, I don't agree with some of the unclear wording. For example: They asked if a cheap mixer is a cheap way to add more inputs if you are out of inputs. I said "yes". They said "No! The cheapest way is to use the unused inputs you still have!" and proceded to list "non obvious" inputs that would seem obvious to anybody who's done this a while.

But I did appreciate the tidbit about ground loops.

Yeah, between that question and the one about synths (that I don't really know much about) I missed more than I thought I should. I ended up missing four total. But I know I'm still pretty new at all of this. But considering the "mixer" question and the synth one, I did pretty alright.

I think technically they said they were looking for the quickest and least expensive way, rather than just a good and cheap way to do it.

Even so, my response was basically "well, you're not adding line inputs then, you're using existing ones."

So, I agree that one was poorly designed.

I also got the nearfield monitors one wrong because I was similarly thinking to find the easiest and least expensive way to minimize room acoustics from the listening environment (my instinct was to use headphones and skip monitors altogether). Looking back on the question when scoring, I noticed they weren't looking for what I was answering. That one's on me.
