i just got the Line 6 toneport in the mail today and i must say im surprised what it can do and the sounds i get from it..i heard it was just like the Pod but a software version of it..i dunno i never played a Pod but all i say is i love the Sound im geting from it! Way to Go Line 6!!!

How long have you played guitar? What is your normal setup - guitar(s) and amp(s)? Are you in a band? Do you play gigs frequently? How long have you recorded your own/others music and what's your setup?

I'm just trying to get a gauge of what you are comparing your line 6 to.

ive been playing for 10 years..ive been in bands..i play a esp ltd f250 guitar going through a Mesa dual rectifier. i been rexcording for about 2 years nowive been in like 5 differnt bands in the 10 years of playing...ive experianced with the v-amp 2, amplitube, guitar rig, vox tonelab and a bunch others..i i never really got into line 6 stuff beause i heard their amps and i think they are horible..but i think the toneport is way awsome! sorry if im making a big deal about this..i was kinnda expexcting toneport to suck when i got it..

I appreciate your post,I have been looking for a better direct recording solution and have been waiting on a review for the toneport.
Is there a useable drum machine/software included?

yeah i believe there is a drum machine..it comes with the abelton sotware you get with toneport..i havnt used it yet so im not one hunderd percent sure if there is one but i heard there is plus when i install abelton it was installing a bunch of drum samples with it..so yeah i think there is..

How about those vocal preamp models included in the Toneport package? Have you given them a whirl yet? I'm really curious about these.

sorry to interrupt, but i noticed that you've use the vamp2. i got mine awhile ago and i like it. well for the money i like it. but i've found that useing the dual pedal footswitch they give you, there is a delay when switching between presets. did you have this problem or am i doing something wrong?

i havnt checked outthe vocal preamp models yet ill be trying it out later today tho!..did you see the videos of toneport? www.line6.com/toneport pretty nice huh lol

do you have msn, or aim? i would be more then happy to talk to you more about it and send you samples? :D

as for the vamp yeah theres a delay in the footswitch..its not you trust me lol i have the same problem..vamp is cool to mess around with for late at night purposes but i dont really like it for rexcording..heres a song i did with it on here if you wanna chexck it out www.myspace.com/killedintheafterlife its the top song

I have enjoyed the POD for a few years now laying down tracks. Its not my mesa boogie ==> beta 57a, but it does a decent job when the tracks are carefully tweaked and driven with a tube pre.

I saw someone mention recently that this is caused by using patches with different speaker cab simulations. Supposedly if you switch back-and-forth between patches with the same speaker cab, you won't get the delay.

I haven't tried this yet so don't quote me on it.

X-V Amp

i got one of these to save me from luggin my Pod 2 and Footcontroller etc around in vans,,on planes etc
The sounds are really pretty good and usable for me,,,
but the slight gap between sounds when changing is utterly useless.

fine for recording,,if you were stuck,,
but useless for using live if you use more than one sound!
so its now residing in the"should get rid of it but havent gotten around to it pile"
:(
