Another one from Learn. It's a short one. More acoustic rock.

"hymmn"

I don't think I'm quite finished mixing this, I've been concentrating on the low end. I think it's there... wish I had a better bass track to work with, but the bass and the bassist gave me some dificulty! lol. You'd cringe if you heard the soloed track! anyway...

Nice work. That one got Marilyn out in search of alternate fingerings. I really liked the sound of the whole combo right at the start and the guitar at the very end with that off-metered picking.

that end part we tracked like 20 times. We tried to double the original guitar which had a mistake at first. This was tracked with acoustic and drums live, a line in from the acoustic pickup. Going over what was there wasen't working. Couldn't get it synced with the drums. A dozen takes later I said just do it without the drums then well retrack the drums. I quickly put one mic up, my ATM41HE, over the drums, but forgot to tighten the clutch completly. thus the end! the wierd mumbling at the end is Wess saying something after hearing the drummers bit for the first time and he's being picked up thorough the acoustic pickup (the line going into a boss delay- that kid sure loves delay). It's wierd what can happen while tracking. those little accidents that become gems :)

I was going to make an ampcast page just for them, but you gotta pay $25 now! My James HE page was granfathered in, so it's all going there! HA HA. I guess I'll need to change my profile and put in that I'm a producer or something.

I'm on my third remix of their album, I think I'm getting close ;)

Wess uses a lot of different tunings doc, He's probably doing something much easier than those alternate fingerings!

JamesHE,

very nice one. I liked the overall sound. I can't comment much on the bass because I could not hear it much, but the overall sound was there.

While I think that the snare could have used a little bit more air, I just simple loved the vocals.

What kind of channel did you use to get those vocals?
the backing vox also sounded there.

nice change around 3:00 and nice soothing tone.

keep it up man.

ps, what did you say at the end?:)

for the vox: Nt-1 into mackie VLZ insert out into dbx 266XL comp. set on "overeasy" into soundcard. The singer's standing a few feet from the mic- big room. backing vox same exact thing. The reason the vox sounds so sweet is simple. Homeboys got an amazing voice! I think I need to tweak the de-esser in the mix a bit. Lots of sssss sounds in this one. Hard to say though I was mixing with a head cold. :D
