Hummmmmmmmm!!!!!

Okay......
I record stories with music background and sound effects.
Using three (3) cassette machines:
1. one for music 1. for sound effects the third one is a cassette deck used to combine the music and sound effects plus my voice...telling the story....
Also using a small radio shack mixer.....

Problem: the final mixed recordings have a loud HUMMMMMM....

How can I get rid of that annoying hummmmmm?

did the other two recordings have hum too?

if you can't hunt down the source of the hum (it can be a numerous amount of things) and just want a quick fix, then you need an EQ of some sort to roll off those offending frequencies.

Separate the components, check each one, and add them back together one at at time untill you see the source of the noise.
Also- Are levels opptimized at each stage? Is everything on the same electrical plug/circuit?
