Hello everyone!
I recently installed the CS3 update for Pro Tools 8 LE running on Windows XP Pro 32 bit

I've had a few sessions on my D drive that have been working fine for about a week after installing the update. Everything was nice and stable

last night when I open a session on this drive, my processing pegs to 100% and pro-tools basically locks up.

If I create a new session on this drive, nothing happens?

Any ideas?
Should I delete all of my databases again?

I've had very similar trouble with Pro Tools locking up.. but never trouble creating a new session.. I wonder if you don't need to re-install it.. In my troubles the fix has been to hold down the shift key when opening a session to deactivate the plugins.. that allows the session to open up without locking.. but I'm compeltely stumped as to why it wouldn't allow you to create a new session.. seems your troubles are likely caused by something else. Couldn't hurt to delete the databases and the pref. files.. That has worked for me in the past as well.. Good luck!

the new sessions work fine

i will try opening without a plugin

OH gotcha.. missunderstood that part.. I bet there's a good chance that will work then.. some of the known causes are Rewire and the melodyne plugins..

has worked for me everytime though, and once it's up and I reactivate all the plugs it runs fine.

thanks man, i'll give it a whirl.

I dunno what it just started happening

I also tried a "repair" of pro-tools, but did not completely remove the software and reinstall the software.

Do you recommend that?

Well that sucks that opening with shift didn't do the trick.. I was almost sure it would.. I probably would completely reinstall it and see if that does the trick. I'll put my thinking cap on here and see what else I can come up with.

You could try importing the session to a new session and see if the same thing happens.. still thinking.

What issues were you having before installing CS3? I was reading about it and they recommend you only install it if you have experienced one or more of the known issues. I haven't installed it yet, and I can't say I've had any of the trouble that the fixes are for.. If I were in your shoes I would install it again without the updates, and then wait for future updates and try them as they come out.. or maybe you needed the fix more specifically?

I'm sorry
I have not tried it yet.

Just looking for some other ideas to try as well.

I would drag ALL third party plug-ins from the Pro Tools "used" folder temporarily to the plug-ins "unused" folder.

Start session. If it boots you have either a corrupt plug-in or one that's not compatible with PT 8 cs3

Yes I know the sessions appeared to work fine for the last week.
