OK i recorded a guitar solo on one track with the effect input on "normal" and then i tried a different effect that i liked so i decided to bounce the solo with the effect onto another track. (The only way to KEEP the effect -other than the one you recorded with- is to do this procedure) Problem is, on the first track (the one with the solo) the guitar sounds great. When i bounce it with the effect the bouncing track sounds terrible- i dont know if its static or distortion. I watched the levels so thats not the problem. Why isnt the bounce sounding EXACTLY like the first track?? I mean isnt that what going digital is all about? Please help!
Thank you

From what I have read about this unit is that one of it's big selling points it that "there are no input mixers, recording busses, or signal routing that winds up in Timbuktu." (Musician's Plus). I suspect that the reason for the bad "bounce" is that the unit was not designed to bounce like a traditional multi-track. It's designed for eight in, no mess no fuss, no bouncing- BUT- you use the V-tracks to get the take you want and put your final cut in into track one. Then you go onto the next track. I'm not sure about this, read your manual carefully or call Boss.

I mean- you MOVE on to the next track. Once you're done with track one, it stays there.

Gotchya- Ive come to believe that its not the guitar effects i have to fix - i just need to buy an electric guitar and forget about trying to make my accoustic sound like one. I tried micing and DI but neither will give me a perfect sound that wont mess up my mix-oh well,,maybe ill get a night job :)
Thanx :)

Don't get a night job. Buy the electric. Your best bet is to get a stereo amp with built in effects (Line 6 Axsys 212 is a good one)and a direct stereo out you can put into the machine. The electric will free you up and expand your guitar playing. I was doing the same thing you are: trying to make an acoustic sound electric. Works o.k. with the right amp but you'll get more out of an electric.

If you go to page 46 in your br-8 manual theres step by step info on bouncing tracks.

page 89 also(changing the insert effect connection)this page will show you how to apply effects to dry recorded sound.

By all means get an electric guitar!!!!!

And by the way you can bounce tracks on the br-8 until your blue in the face.
