I've been trying to get the Cakewalk people to answer a couple of simple question but their responsiveness is lame...at best.

I recently purchased HS2002... and now, I simply want to know is can it source or receive midi clock? I need to synch a digi-multi-tracker and keyboard.

If not,...is the SONAR 2.x an upgrade or am I simply going to throw the HS2002 away and start from scratch.

Anyone?

Thanks.

I'm not real familiar with the HS2002.

I DO know the Sonar is completely capable of outsourcing an external MIDI sync, SMPTE/MTC, or Audio clock, besides containing an internal one.

HS2002 only sources MIDI clock, it can't receive. Its in Options->Project->MIDI OUT

That's what I was affraid of... my multi-tracker is a midi out only device.

Anyone know if there is a SONAR 2.x upgrade for the Home Studio product or is this a complete new package purchase?

Again, thanks.

I did...and I attempted to contact Cakewalk via their support email form. I didn't find nor get a direct answer to the question. Perhaps a language barrier...I'm not sure.

It might not hurt to simply answer a legitimate question or ignore it all together if you have nothing of value to add. I thought that was what this forum was all about? I suppose I missed the true intent somewhere.

CakeWalk Suport?

CakeWalk support? Don't make me laugh...:(

I e-mailed CakeWalk with two probs I was having. I posted the questions on the News.CakeWalk.HomeStudio NG and to HomeRecording.com.

Here are the results:

CakeWalk Support: Still waiting...
News.CakeWalk.HomeStudio: Zilch...
HomeRecording.Com: 1-1/2 out of 2

My opinion is don't waste your time with CakeWalk (it's probably what they want anyway), ask your questions here, you'll get faster results.

If it wasn't for Moskus, Brzilian, James Argo and Paul881 (where are you Paul???) I'd be tearing my hair out (Oops! Unfortunate metaphor that one - I don't have any hair left to tear out:))

Apart from the lack of beard, I really do look like this:

I did answer the question and even showed you were to find the info yourself...

apologies...my interpretation of upgrade vs. cakewalk's was/is different.

I asked if there was a software upgrade for HS to SONAR...There isn't...you must purchase a full version of SONAR and it turns out that the company will give you a discount if you make this purchase direct from them. In the end, I must own two different software packages neither interrelated.

I maintain that their website was a bit misleading or a bit difficult to understand in this regard. In contacting the Cakewalk people through thier website mailer...they were very slow to respond and failed to answer the question directly.

Don't you realize this route is cheaper than if you just bought Sonar in the first place?
