Sorry I'm late. Hope I don't repeat too much.

Who's singing? Nice vocal recording!

Damn this sounds good guys. So what if it's a month "late"....worth the extra time. Very warm well-rounded sound!

Hey, that was a 320k file. That's cheating! ;)

I`ll have a remix in a little while. I hear the things yall have mentioned and it will be smoothed out. Was so in a hurry that I didnt hear some of it when I cut the mp3. Just trying to get it posted before August was over at least (Tom) ;) .

Im gonna bring you in on layers on that downbeat harmony that you were mentioning daf'.

Keys will be up and harmonies up some more. Bass/kick/snare is a bit strong. I love it so though. :)

I really have to pressure this garage sale gear I got to get near what I`m looking for, and overshoot sometimes. Hopefully I`ll have some real tools before long and it wont wear my ass out so much to get a production out. :)

Doing this with dafduc was real pleasure. He`s a monster player, composes. I had fun and learned a lot in the process. First time tracking vocals except my own, and never worked with so many tracks before from someone else, combined with all the tracks I had. A good study.. and hard homework...

Aak! If it's me, you better AutoTune 'em!!!*:D

Plus I think the vocal tracks of mine that you have will have horns on 'em too???

Might work better to sample her "lift" syllable and overlay...

You did a heap of work on this, man. I'm pleased I had such a pro to work with.

Daf

* - AT setting: G chromatic, tenor voice - helped my vocs suck a little less:rolleyes:

ShhhhhhIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT 10mb?:D hey brutha Kenny, you know how much I wanna listen to this? I'll download before I go to bed and check it out tomorrow:D

Sweet horns. While it's not the type of music I usually listen to, I enjoyed it. Good job guys.

Stinkin' groove!

I swear Ken, you can squeeze more groove out of canned drums than most anyone. You are the bass meister!

The mix is a bit thick on the bottom (especially the kick), but that can be fixed with some strategic comp. The vocals could use a bit of comp & presence. Would like to hear those keys a bit more up-front as well.;)

Fukengruven!

Hey, this is neat! Very cool, very soulful! Great tune! The feel was like "Watermelon Man!" Who can resist such aural temptations, (pun intended!). Great playing and singing thoughout. The tune is solid and so is the track. Overall? A winner!

Very nice job fellas....and ladies. Another completely different challenge song. Gotta love it!

I think it was very cool. Wonderful groove. I really have no real complaints with the mix except the low end seemed a little heavy. I liked it, especially for the song style, but maybe it made the vox seem a little weaker in comparison. I am not sure exatly what I am hearing. Probably igonore me! :D Vox were very nice and powerfully sung though.

Great work as expected!

Listening again and the horns were very nice. The whole structure/arrangemnt was very nice. The long outro almost sounded like a different song when it started. It was cool though!

Wow! I love it!!!! Man I's got's to get me some sista's to sing on my stuff! Haha, I think I got 5 versions of "breadnbeans" now LOL! This being the best of coruse, you guy's and "gals" did a top shelf job on this. No complaints over here bro, this thing smokes. The recording and mix are top drawer to my ear's. Great job Toki/Daf/Moma kitty/Lil sista girls! Loved it!

David

Toki and Daffy. Nice ring.

Kind of a had a "Roll With It" sound.

Real clean sound. I didn't the the vocals were too far forward. Maybe some of the backing vocals were. But just a bit. Nice punchy bass sound. Maybe some of those trumpets could come up just a nudge. I liked all those singers.

Not sure it needed to be 5 and a half minutes. There was a real cool keyboard part at around 3:50. Played real well. Didn't cut through real well though.

Cool sound. Trip.

It's a little bottom heavy, but that's a sweet bottom end. This is another one of those "pro" sounding collabs.

Good singing.

I pretty much agree with your opening comments mix wise. I think the some of the keys and horns and stuff could have been up a bit, especially through the breaks. Ya, I think the big key solo near the end needs to be louder for sure.

One small note, the row of snare hits towards the end stands out becuse it's the only spot where you can really tell it's sampled drums. I"m not sure what to suggest, but I think a bit of attention there would go a long way.

Cool tune.

Thanks to everyone who lent their ears. Can you feel the love tonight???:D

I'm with Kenny - love a big bottom.:) His remix ideas all sound like good'ns - I'm just gonna wait for whatever my man Toki serves up.

Collaborating was a great reminder that teamwork can really bring out something extra that isn't necessarily there in the individual team members. Having bread-n-beans as a springboard propelled my writing to a place it would never have gone on its own. I think this is borne out in some of the other collabs I saw too, where the creative process took the collaborateurs to new and different vistas as well. I think.

Daf (bring on #5!!! Whatever it is!!!)

Smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth.:D

Y'all get down with your bad selves!

The words "Rejoice - lift up your hears to the Lord" never made my dick so hard!:p

Cool cool. Awesome production. Those singers though, man!

Very cool. Great recording, though I agree on most of the mixing comments. Tight ass bass work as usual, Toki! (thanks to your boardname I always picture you like a skinny guy from Korea, but I have a feeling you're not ;) )

Kinda weird to hear so many women vocals on this, since this is a board mainly attended by men. Nice to hear it though. The harmonies are terrific. :)

We need more women. Hey Kgirl72, don't you have any musician girlfriends?

Laaaawd have merceh! I knows that the lawd Jay-susss would appreciate his fine fine people a raisin they'a voices and PRAISE be the lawd!!

Yeah i felt like i was in a church and there were people jumpin around and elderly ladies were standing up from the pews with fans in their gloved hands breezing their faces as they were ready to faint. It kind of made me think of that song "You've got to roll with it baby".

Cool idea to have babes singin. Yeah must've been fun, HEF! Heh, great job guys I feel like i can sin at least 2 extra times today and be okay.

Um, you guys are really my only friends...:(

Not really, but I do have a lot of GUY musician friends. There aren't even many girl singers around here...I think every band has called me if they were looking for a girl singer. Well, that's an overstatement, but I do get asked a lot and told a lot that they've auditioned a million, but can't find the one, you know? I always say no now...I'm more into doing this writing and singing of my own stuff. It's way more enjoyable for me.

I hired a girl recently here at work who is a music major...I don't think she sings anything but classical/theater type stuff. she does get to hear what I'm working on, though.

I'll keep an eye out...now, I have to go listen to the song completely. I'm at work now, but I'm going to d/l it presently! Gotta hear the Sister Sledge incarnate.

Dudes!!!

Awesome job! Why ain't this on the radio instead of the crap that poses and passes for CCM these days?!?

Love it!!!

CR ><>

Really enjoyed this as well, you guys should put up an edit though that cuts off at 3:50 or wherever the break is, that way people would have a choice like the old 45's. Good tune.

Hey fellas...... NICE!

...Nice mix here. Full and robust. Those drums sound just plain bitchin. The only place they were really midi-noticable was during that small snare roll section.... ...otherwise hard to tell. Definitely a nice choice of sounds there. I love those bg vocs... If you ever come across those in a midi package, let me know 'cause im buying:D . Nice bass toke, .....nice punchy, round, fender tone.

My only nit is THAT BIG-ASSED file .....10+ megs? whew... 'bout had a hernica dl'ing this sucker :D

Great work here, by everyone involved.... big thumbs up!!
