man, thats a phat ass groove youve got going....i dont see how you CANT persue this one further.....very good solid tracking, exactly what this challende was all about.....the bottom end slams ya in the chest just like i like it:)

Real nice. Love that bass sound. Decent keys too. Great feel to the thing.

Excellent. Trip...

mbrane: thank you man. I was tickled with the drum thing too. I retracked the piano and b3, maybe the drum thing will make more sense now in the 2nd cut.

Track Rat: hehehe, yep after all that last smoke break... :) thanks Bif Daddy.

David: yup, the washburn can get a little strong, I wasnt purposely trying to track correctly, actually I was just sittin here in the dark working on a feeling. I still want to get you on a blues thing soon.

Mixmkr: yeah, I have to be careful on that bass. The shop i had it worked on only had a light gauge string set to go on it. I use a heavier gauge cause I bend and wiggle a lot of notes and these are noisy like wire snares on a drum if I dont play them carefully.

Stratomaster: Thanks, the Fender and Ibanez jazzes have an upper midrange tone. I can get it on the washburn but I enjoy the deep dark it can do at times too.

Kramer: thank you man. I got it in the tank for future work.

Doug H: there`ll be more in time. I may use this theme for a community cadaver here in the lab so that anybody that wants can do some cutting. I`ll have to get all movements glued together and presentable first.

groucho: Im glad you enjoyed it. Just a snapshot of a mood but maybe I can paint a picture with it over time.

crawdad: your right, and there are sounds and conversations that have been captured on tape over the years that I`d give a tooth to have. And some times much more fun and enriching than the actual work on a session. I like that idea "Go Naked"

flat-9: oh how I wish you lived down the street, what pie we would make! I`m retracking the piano to give a little more skeleton to the theme. Yep, to use it It needs a transition into another variation and a resolve. I got a rough idea. Maybe I can get it down and you can replace with your touch some time.

jake: thanks a lot. Funny, I just did a simple back track for this and just jammed. no work into it at all. Maybe I been trying to hard in the other stuff.

chrisharris: thank you. Kramer could surely wring some cryin notes through this. Good idea, I like his stuff.

khompewtur: I appreciate it. Actually this was all done cold. I was winding down from a trip to gig last weekend in a totally different genre, and needed to get a feeling out I had been toting around. Afterwards I felt better and thought I'd share some of it it with the fellas.

Gidge: I made some gumbo today for the kids and thought about you. :) I think this one might get a finish on it before long. There was a spot or two where I did get a little more emotional and meant, to slam into the chest. The rest of it was ok but got off into the bizarre a little so I didnt burden yall`s ears. :)

TripleM: 'always a pleasure to see your post... I`m glad you enjoyed it. It was purely a feeling.

I retracked the piano and b3 so maybe it makes more sense now and has a stronger skeleton.

I`ll get you all your tunes as soon as I can. With 56k its tuff sometimes gettin in a bunch of listens.

Sounds better!:)

The drum fill makes more sense now, but it still cracks me up because it reminds me of stuff that Tommy does when we're gigging just to try and throw us off. Totally off-time fill then right back in the groove. Always the joker! LOL!:D

You know....I don't even know whether this song needs to be wetter/equalised/compressed. :)

This is a compliment, I guess. :)

Toki,
I listened to this earlier, but had to run out. Damn these things get to page two in a heartbeat!
You have got to quit throwing the samples out there! Man this one should go a few more minutes at least! Great groove to get into, but you left too soon. Good stuff as always. I think the bass was supreme.

Hey Toki,
Very Nice man! I like the chorus'd bass....pretty. Very nice piano work too. ......Are you gonna throw some vocs on this? Definitely gonna be nice when its done.

M.Brane : Thanks, the lick was an accident that I liked and worked around. I worked with one of those kinda drummers at one time, a real treat. His math was great. Everyone got experience knowing where 1 is at all times without relying on him. He would do some mindblowing counterythyms that would take a 6-armed orangutang to play. :)

Pedullist: Thanks fella. Resynthing samples makes it easier. the eq and levels are already pretty close if the soundfont is good.

bdbdbuck: I appreciate it. I promise I`ll upload more next time. I just cut a piece and send it cause 56k takes so damn long.

Guernica: just another mood thing. I never know what I`m gonna do with these things so I keep them in a sack. I`m getting a little more confident in my post retirement playing..., and this software thing.

"F 'L 'G" : jus a lil groove thing sittin in the dark. Glad you got a buzz my good man! :)

You sound really good naked!...but you didn't last too long.Sounds unfinnished(needs vox ,lead)Bring up the keys ,too.Nice overall sound.Roomy!

Ken, I took another listen, this time on some good speakers. Well, better than my work speakers, anyhow.

All the instruments sound good individually, and together it's a nie fulll sound without being overbearing. I liked the bass fretbuzz too, and it's cool the bass got to step out of the pocket.

It's a real relaxed feel - no real harmonic movement, and no rhythmic propulsion. There's also a bit of the grateful-dead-slop, if you know what I mean - everybody playing sort of unconnected rhythm figures...

So if that's what you're going for, then you got it!;) It's a very organic sound - make a pretty good chill track.

Again, I'd like to hear the finished product.
