i like that intro........the vocal is a touch dry for me, but that's all subjective.....it's nice how it is........

nice song.........i like the acoustic sound

Great job to all of you. I might suggest bringing the piano up some more. I'd like to hear more from you!

Joro, Skids & Mika.......Great Job!

Aug 2 remix is cleaner, but I could use a tad more of that sweet voice , more drums/piano and less guitar. Also the vocals could stand a drizzle of verb and less mid on the EQ.

Beautiful composition Joe! AWESOME BRIDGE MIKA!:D

Top shelf lyrics & melody, refreshing quarter note triplets mixed in effectively w/ the fast motion...( 8th & 16th syncopation ) Very Hip!

Shit! 8th listen now and that bridge slays me! What a breath of fresh air! :D NICE!

5 stars from flat-9!

CONGRATS to Skids & Mika....Welcome Cayden Taka!

Joro, I'm gonna try like hell to get to JAMFEST Fri & Sun!

Ralph

Powder - Thanks for the compliments. I agree the vox could use a tad more verb.

rpe - Piano up or maybe acoustic down some. Something to bring it out more...I agree. Thanks for the kudos.

flat-9 - Thank you very much for for the compliments/comments. I agree on the vox verb and EQ.

I agree the bridge was a wonderful addition to solid bed. I think it made the song/story complete after Joe set us up so nicely.

Can you explain the next stuff to me as I am musically illiterate but always love to learn? :p

Thanks again!

hey Ralph

It was cool to jam with you last night at Tom's...

you monster you :D

Glad you liked the tunage man....
Joe

Polyrythmn....16th and 8th note accompaniment ( joro guit, skid drums ) against quarter note triplet melody from Mika couldnt have been executed better.

Some of my favorite musicians are unaware of what they are doing! Fact is, it doesn't matter . The best shit usually happens spontaniously and off the cuff w/out knowledge or planning!

Peace

ahhh....so that's what we did... :D

You just described me to a tee Ralph....I had no idea.. :D

Dragonworks and Upstate Steve were showing me guit stuff at the Jamfest...... augmented this...and suspended that....and this mode and that mode.....

made my head hurt...ya know? :D

Got any of that weed left? hehehe!

Yup...we'll hook up again soon man.... :D

This was sweet. loved the vox, the acoustic guitar, backing tracks. Very nicely done.

A couple of things didn't work for me (listened to the 8/2 remix) - bass at the end of the phrases didn't seem to match up with the guitars either rhythmically or harmonically - maybe on purpose, because it was consistent - but feeling of forward motion kinda got lost each time we came to that part. And the distortion guitar - great sound, BTW - in the quiet parts, it seemed out of place. When it picked up (last verse? I disremember...) it was fine. Maybe just a personal preference on my part - doesn't make sense for an electric on full shred to be drowned out by some sweet acoustic fingerpickin'.

But the song was great, really enjoyable listen. And the 3 against 2 part that Ralph pointed out DID work nicely. Real sophisticated work, joro et al.

BTW Joe, it was a distinct pleasure spending a big part of Sunday morning with you and the "non-Mrs.":D I forget what we were gonna PM each other about, but if you think of it, um, PM me, okay???

Daf

Pretty cool. Vocally engaging. Drums were kinda' soft, but I wouldn't change it, honestly.

I think I was supposed to do one of these collabs too, lol. oops.

joro:...nice to see the effort on the remix but I dig the original...even with it's "boxiness"....just has a "sound" to it....flat9 said it well: "The best shit usually happens spontaniously and off the cuff w/out knowledge or planning!"

Hi Daf,
Thanks man....thank goodness for recording...I am much better at that than jamming live (which aint saying much :D )....as 30 or so rec-ers witnessed last weekend :D
I was gonna PM you about the Civil War tune....just click the WWW button and look for Right or Wrong...David K played on it too...very cool tune..
It was a pleasure rapping with you last weekend man and a gas to jam with you,....you are a Monster on the keys and quite the gentleman for sure....You rawk dude! :D

chriharris??
couldn't be.....

chrisharris?
is it really you man?

I used to know a guy named chrisharris.....last I heard he was abducted by a tribe of Amazons.... kicking and screaming all the way as they dragged him into the jungles of Texas.........

ONE MORE MIX>>>>>just one more mix.....

just one more mmmmmmmmmiiiiixxxxxxxxxxxxxx :D

Thanks for the listen Chris...
Hope all is well man..

Mac...yeah man....I just aint that good at mixing....I should just start from scratch some day.....with a fresh prospective and ears....ya know?

Thanks man....

Soooooooo.........

Anybody seen Skids???
Where are ya man?
Joe

Nice song. Good feel to it. Interesting lyrics. The singer has a nice voice. Good harmonies. Good acoustic guitar sound and a good part that drove the song well. I really liked those intertwined vocal parts in that bridge.

Sounds like the singer was awful close to the mic though. Something a little odd in the vocal tone. Could use a bit of verb to sit it better with the instruments. Just a thought.

The distorted tone on the electric was nice. But for this song, it seemed a little "heavy."

Little timing thing with the guit around 1:16 - 1:20 or so? Begining with that quick walkdown, it didn't sound as tight as I think it could.

A very faint pop at 2:45. Thought you could sneak that one by me didn't you. :)

Mostly nitpicks. Good job.

Thanks for taking the time! ;) :)

She was close to the mic. Good call. That may be the reason for all the "boxy" comments.

I had to really listen for that one. I am still not sure I heard it, but I think I heard something so will defer to the "pop detective". ;) :D

Thanks for compliments!

Thanks to everyone else as well! I think joro took care of those responses.

very nice guys. this went on the HRC#4 cd. thanks. great job.

Thanks for listening and the comments fellas :)

I really gotta hand it to Mika and Skids for making this tune decent...

one last mix with more verb on the vox...less distorted guitar...
and more panning on the acoustic...
it's at NowhereRadio.... only one there now...

Thanks again fellas
Joe
