Folks,

What's the status on the initial stages of this very cool, very fun project?

Teddie

Teddie,

Been working on it on and off since the weekend. Hope to get something for everyone else to work off of by the weekend.

I think I will end up submixing some of the parts, unless Drstawl has other ideas. The syncing is going to be a nightmare, and I can't seem to get a click at the start of each track very easily.

So, what I plan to do, is submix the following to it's own individual MP3, which can then be lined up easier.

1 - Rhythm Guitars. (2)
2 - Lead Melody/Synth Guitars (4)
3 - Acoustic Guitars (2)(maybe, not sure if I'm doing any yet.)
4 - Lead Lead Guitars. (1 or 2)

If I pan the rhythms, acoustic and electrics hard left and right, Dr.stawl could then maybe extract each channel into a mono file. Guess this doesn't get us much though. I could upload them as mono... hmm

This should still give Drstawl enough control for mixing, and if something is wrong with any one of the 4 components, I can always change it and reupload.

Sound like a planet?

The link to the click track has gone out by e-mail. E-mail me if you can't get to it...
H/R band is rockin' the pier.

Emeric did an awsome job for sure.

Emeric, sorry was unable to chat last night.

Hey no problem Teddie, not too sure about the solo at the end though, might be too out there for the song.

This is awesome!!! Emeric, you ROCK!! I'll start working on the bass.

Great job Emeric, I like the solo at the end too. I say we keep it. I'll get into the drums first thing next week when I get more time.

Jon X, I agree. Emeric, the solo at the end is really a cool thing. I mean if you redo it, cool, but don't lose that essence... it really worked well in there, I believe.

hey if it works for you guys, cool.. I'll leave it then.. I hate redoing shit.

This so cool. When can the rest of us get a little listen?

Im thinkin if you guys get this worked out well enough it might be possible to hire out what we can't do or don't do well on a particular project. The possibilities are endless. Lots of details would have to be worked out but WOW!

They've got (or had) a similar service at the VS PLanet but this is a tad cooler IMHO.
We'll be happening pretty soon and the results will be posted.

How's everybody coming on the song? I'm in no hurry, just asking since we haven't visited this topic in a while. I haven't gotten my part completely done yet either. I finaly got something going tonight though, and I should have some tracks uploaded by tomorrow evening. I wanna leave them overnight and see how they sound tomorrow. I was supposed to do the vocals, right? :)

BTW, drstawl, do you have a version of Emeric's guitar tracks without the drum machine sounds? Either way is fine with me, as from what I've got recorded now I only notice the hi-hat sound on that in one place for a few seconds. So I'm not a great drummer, I can't keep time perfectly with a drum machine for a 4 minutes, lol. Anyway, after I'm sure I got the tracks down in the morning, I'm gonna maybe play around with the EQ a bit once I get them moved to my PC. I've tried to leave them as unprocessed as I can, only adding a little compression on the kick so far. I might have to upload three separate tracks if I can't find the installs for Vegas that I used to have. It was a demo version, but I use it on rare occasions when I have to combine stuff like that. Doesn't happen enough for me to spend even $35 for n-track. I trust your judgement in mixing the snare, kick, and the rest of the kit, so won't bother me to have to do it that way.

Also, are we planning on a fade out at the end? I guess I just assumed that from listening to what Emeric did.

Jon X,

I'm going to upload a copy with just a click at the intro. I will email you with the location, should be available in an hour or so.

As for fade out, that's sorta what I thought it would be.

Emeric

I don't mean to barge in on you guys or anything, but as I was sitting here thinking about your project I thought it would be kind of cool if each of you could do a mix. It would be interesting to hear how each of you would approach this tune. Anyway, I look forward to hearing the finished song!

Thanks Emeric... by the way, is that you dressed as Elvis, or in the background playing guitar? :D Upon listening this morning I think I got something worth uploading, and will get it there today. Fading would be fine with me.

Well- CMiller- not to stomp all over that idea, but if you ponder the mechanics of this process, this will HAVE to be the case in any case, right? Each participant in the chain has to have the same mixing capability used to create the final mix, and once <a> final mix is available, there is nothing stopping even non-participants from having a shot at re-mixing it to their tastes, given the individual tracks. Hey! Maybe we can sell copies of the original tracks as a kind of mixing game on one CD? I'd be happy to run off copies of this for the first 10 players
if the H/R band members agree. Just cover my media & postage.

When it comes time for me to do the vox... I'll have some questions on what my process should be... exciting stuff... :)
