I read other reviews on the web and at zzounds. Most say it's good. I bought it (slightly used, without pouch, clip, or any other accessory) for $60 + shipping. Is that a good deal?

Anyone ever compared it to the Rode NT1000, Rode NTK, or MXL V67G?

I tested it out using karaoke system. The SM58 outperformed it at feedback. I placed both mics directly into the speakers, and only the Beta 87A gives feedback. It does not sound as warm as the SM58. I was disappointed because I expected it to be much better than the SM58 like some reviews claimed it to be.

Give me your 2-cents.

$60 is a great deal for a Beta 87a.
I'll give you $70 for it. :)

It's a fine microphone live (or in the studio) for many singers.
Comparisons of microphones aren't that helpful for a specific vocalist though.
It could be that a Shure SM58 or SM57 sounds better on you than an expensive Neumann. Be sure to try the SM57 as it's somewhat clearer sounding than a '58.

P.S. Please send me a PM (private message) on this BBS if you want to sell it,
and for how much.

Of course it's more prone to feedback than an SM58. It's an electret condenser, and a hell of a lot more sensitive than a dynamic. I bid $75. Do I hear $80? Going once...Richie
