How's giving the rating around here?

I place a post with one of my songs. Nobody replies to it (because everybody is too good for that. Sorry that I'm not member of the "Pro" club). But who gave me a star (at least one I get for my effort).
How thinks he's that good to give me one without telling me why.

Excuse me but what the hell are you talking about? The "pro club"? I searched down the post you're refering to and you put it up a few hours ago and you're pissed because noone has commented yet?
 
Now I'm pissed off about the star. Okay may be I'm over reacting a bit and maybe I don't know how it works but Who divides the stars here? I rather have no star stuck to my thread than one.
You know when there's one star people are not bothered to listen to the song. Right or not?
 
I have 56k country cable. So at the rate of ONE song posted everyday, it puts me back ONE week in my "to download list". I`ll listen to your song , but it will be when I`ve got the que down some. No fret.....be fretless.... :) :) I made a pun?

I`m not a pro. I called 12 people on the phone and asked them to listen to one of my songs so it would at least have a view count...

chill... nobody pays attention to the stars for one... and for another, you need to realize that you're new around here. I'm guessing people like to check out the songs of the people they're familiar with. people tend to average maybe 1 or 2 listens per day to songs posted in the clinic. With the amount of songs that get posted everyday, that makes for some competition as far as what's going to get listened to. Before getting some attitude about nobody posting about your tune, maybe hang out a while, develope some repoire , and then post a tune.
 
Yeah man, the stars don't mean squat. I don't know who the hell goes around doing that kind of shit, but most people do ignore them.

BTW, there aren't enough pro's here for them to have their own club.

Is it somewhat "clique-ish" in here? Well, maybe. I know for me, members who have been around for a while have priority when choosing what to DL on my painfully slow dial-up connection. That's just the way it is. I do try to get around to as many songs as I can, even if it takes me a week or two. But sheesh... I hadn't even seen your post yet fer cryin' out loud.

As for the stars... forget about it. Anyone who rates something with 1 star without comment is a wuss. I hardly ever pay attention to the ratings. However, one star threads do tend to get my attention. If it affected someone so much to rate it like that, I wanna know why :).
 
Yeah... Someone likes playing with the star rating system...... "I'm gonna give everyone 1 star and i'm gonna give all my own threads 5 stars.....":rolleyes:

I never even look at the stars...... Some people use them to put a rating on the quality of the music (in the clinic), But thats not what it's for...........They are just meant to be a rating on how the thread is going...

As for no one responding to your song.. Patience Bro.... Sometimes it's a good day before you get replies.

It's a good place.... No "clubs"..... We all try to help each other.

No worries on the star stuff...There is a "One-Star Bandit" around here who sometimes makes an appearance and just rates everything one star without reading the threads or listening ... so, I guess when it comes to the Internet, that just goes with the territory ...

As for not getting any replies, you just have to give it time...If you post something, you are going to get replies, it may just take awhile sometimes, so don't fret ..

Also (Commercial plug) I did try to listen to your tune, but it could only be played in hi-fi and with some of us who are still living in the dark-ages, we can't listen in hi-fi and downloading takes a few days, so, you should start an account at

www.nowhereradio.com

You can sign up for free (up to 15mb) and get your songs on there...they can then be listened to in hi-fi and lo-fi, and I can almost guarentee you that you'll get more listens and more replies...

Me and the rest of the "pro club" just had one of our weekly meetings in the tree fort, and it's come to our attention that smilestoned only knew half of the password, and totally lunched on the secret handshake.

Look man, if you want in, you know the drill:

We must have verifiable proof . . . overpass . . . honk loogies on at least 4 cars . . . panty raid the sister floor . . . at least two cows tipped - all the way over . . . no condoms allowed on the sheep . . . and you have to eat the entire piece of bread alright?

We must have pictures, evidence before we teach you the real handshake, okay? Now get to work! :D

dude. I didn't even know threads had stars until I saw this thread.
BTW, I try to check out every artist once and keep going back to their stuff if a, I like it or b, they want to discuss how they're doing things.
My pet peeve is people asking and not hanging around for the answer. I don't like offering opinions to brick walls...
 
Okay guys. I have to apologise. I was just upset about that f**king star.
I know the rules now. I keep quiet.

At least I've got the attention now :D
 
Listening and responding to all the new posts can be extremely time consuming. Sometimes I just have to get some work done too. For me the process is streamlined by using NWR, so if I'm really busy, I'll only listen to stuff that's posted there. It's nothing personal, there's only so many hours in a day.
