Yo,

I was just wondering how everyones doin. Seems like it should be asked every once in a while. Whats everyones situations on gear like? Im interested to know what everyones setup is like.
So I think for this thread everyone should

A)Say how youre doing right now

and

B)List your main guitar setup. I know everyones got a lot of guitars and gear lying around, but Im looking for your main setup.

For me:

A)Right nows a pretty good time. School starts soon which should be interesting. Im a Graphic Arts major at the Community College near my house in Lansdale, a suburb of Philadelphia. Right this second Im listening to Spocks Beards new CD so Im Feeling Euphoria hehe...

B) Ernie Ball Music Man Steve Morse model to Rolls Vol/Pan pedal then gets sent to a Fender Power Chorus and a Peavey 5150. The effects loop of both amps go to a TC Electronics G Major(nice unit) then to a BBE Sonic Maximizer. The G Major is controlled by a Behringer FCB1010. The cool thing about my setup is that I can switch amps with the Rolls pedal and also use the Behringer to switch channels on the amps. I love it.

Well, I am depressed because my wife and I split up two weeks ago. Besides that, I am ok. I dont play guitar, but my lead singer in my band has a dean 6 string bubinga elec/acoustic. It sounds pretty good for only $500.00. My bass player is playing a slammer. I know no one has ever heard of it, but its pretty nice. It was only $200.00. He bought it in a tight spot, and has kept it because he liked it so much. Guitar playing through a peavey 1-12 and a 2-12. The bass through a peavey 4-10 1000 watt system. Bass player has a boss efx pedal. Guitar plays through a 3630 compressor or distortion pedal.

How do you like the Steve Morse? That is my next major guitar purchase. I've got the Sillouette Special and love it.

I feed a Roland JC120 or a Marshall Artist 3203. I front both of those with a Mesa Boogie V-Twin. I've got a Rockman MIDI Octopus that handles the channel switching on the amps and the V-Twin all controlled by an ART Ultrafoot Midi pedal board. I've also got a vintage Morley Volume/Auto Swell pedal I break out sometimes. Plus a couple of Wah's, and a variety of Sansamp pedals when I'm too lazy to fire up the amps and just want to go direct to the mixer.
 
i'm pretty good. just got done with summer school (college) and i have break until september......well not a real break because now i have to work full time at my job.

i have a Fender cyclone with a gibson 500t in the bridge position instead of the original atomic humbucker. I have a rivera knucklehead55 that's going through a marshall tsl 2x12 cab (that's the cab that's supposed to be the extension cab for the TSL combo) it has a celestion heritage and a celestion vintage speaker in it.

i don't really use effects. i have a DOD icebox chorus that can be kinda cool to play with, but i haven't found a use for it in the music i play. I also have a DOD od-3 overdrive pedal. I believe they stopped making them and then changed them to the malmsteen signature pedal and are now charging like a hundred bucks rather than the 50 or 60 that they cost when i got mine. I don't really like pedals, but i think that the od-3 is better than my turbo rat.....the rat just has this really thin highend crap sound to it.....well most other pedals do also, but the rat and turbo rat seem to be even worse.

oh and i don't like my cyclone very much. i don't like the amount of sustain it has......or uhhh the amount of sustian is doesn't have.....and i don't like the twangy sound.........it's better with the 500t, but it would be better if i had put like a burstbucker or a 57 in it rather than the midscooped ultra high output 500t.

I intend to get a les paul soon. well hopefully.

well im kinda down because i'm totally madly in love with this girl, and she knows I am too, but problem is we're best freinds, and she's not sure if she likes me back, etc...the usual stupid teenage problems :)

my main setup is my cheapass squier strat *with updated fender locking tuners, mighty mite neck and middle pickup, and seymour duncan sh4 jb humbucker at the bridge* or 2001 gibson les paul through a dunlop crybaby wah into my crate gfx212 solid state amp...not a bad setup, but it's pretty fun for what money i have.
my bass setup is my schecter model-t *seymour duncan pickups* or 1975 fender jazz reissue or my squier fretless pbass wtih emg select pups throguh my zoom bfx708 processor into some old 80's 15 inch speaker amp, then i run that with crate bfx50, so i have a mini cabinet runnin, a 15x12 cabinet ;) but its very loud :)

and my drum setup is a simple 5 piece sonor with sabian B8 highs and a crash/ride with evans toners on each drum, and my bass is stuffed with 2 pillows, nice bassy sound :)
 
it sounds like everybody is having girl problems! well i broke up with my girlfriend a couple of months ago and i've gotten more music related work done in that time than i have in the past 3 years!

i'm using an ibanez guitar (rg series) running to a crate excalibur 4x12. i have several boss stompboxes and a digitech whammy pedal. i also have a cheapo zoom multiFX for noisy fun.

i'd like to find a good multiFX processor sometime, but i don't really like the sound of the digital ones i've heard - nothing compares to those nice stompboxes - just too many damn wires!

I'm well enough I suppose. (Could be worse right?) I'm just enjoying summer and have recently started playing again and have put a band together, but don't have much gear anymore
I play all acoustic guitar in this band and have a basic Yamaha that I've beat to hell. In storage I have an old weird "thinner" Vox acoustic with a bolt on neck. I'm interested in perhaps getting a new Ibanez, but who knows?
I also have an old American made Kramer electric which sounds nice to solo with, but It needs to be set up again.
I only use reverb, so no FX.
I had a older Peavey MX flight case head , but it fell victim to flooding. Now I play through a powered mixer and 2 15-10-Horn cabs. I have about a 15 year old Sonor drum kit still in the boxes in storage and paiste 2002's. Naturally I have a 4 track and just got a half inch 8 track reel machine, but need to get a nice mixer.... I need a new EVERYTHING again.
 
I'm doing alright, but i'd like to have more music related work.

For recording, I use a Johnson J-Station, I really like it that once I get a sound it's always the same and I can just plug it in and go. As for guitar, I have a few and they are all very different. I use whatever sounds best for the song I'm recording.

Live, I've been using the same amp for the last 15 years. It's a 1964 Blond Fender Bassman 2x12. My main guitar is a Jap Strat from the early 90s, but I'll also use a Jay Turser Telecaster or for slide work a late 90s Gibson Les Paul Jr. Special. I also like my TS10 Tube Screamer (used for added gain, not overdrive), a Morley Wah, a Danelectro Delay, a Boss Chorus, and a Boss EQ.
 
I've got to go to Florida (Panama City) next week for work - THAT SUCKS! Otherwise, life is good.

I've been trying to get a better sound out of my Yamaha Silent Guitar. I don't have an acoustic amp so I have to run it direct, and no amount of eq can seem to totally eliminate that 'direct sound'.

I'm looking for a amp sim plug in that emulates a strwaberry blonde acoustic amp. Actually any amp sim for acoustic instruments would be worth a try.
 
A) what do you think? School's starting (Sr. year of high school)... the summers over and everything kinda sucks.

B) Gear... Hmmm. A POS classical, no idea of the name, for electric, I've got an Epi G400 and an Ibanez RG520 running into a crybaby then into a Fender Deluxe 112.

How do you like that axe? I've really been scoping on that. A great box for acoustic is the Sansamp Acoustic DI. It really helps add some body and take away that piezo quak. I've got a sample of mine if you want to hear it. Or better yet, come to Salt Lake City mini-jam fest and you can hear it for yourself.
 
I have no complaints other than the fact that my company is closing my office and I'm in search for a job.


My main rig is my new Heritage H575 custom. I love that instrument. Typically I just play non-amplified, otherwise the kids will wake up. But when I do, I play through a Fender Princeton Reverb. Nice tube sound.
 
My bitch abandoned me. Recording is starting to aggravate me. I am happy with my Taylor, mics preamp and monitors. I am happy with life and my penis size.

I love the guitar, it uses a new type of acoustic pickup (non-piezo) called the b-band (http://www.b-band.com). It's the best sounding pickup for acoustic instruments I've heard. Having said that, some people can still pick up on the fact that it's a DI when they listen to my recordings. The guitar's neck is a dream, dead flat, good intonation, all in all, very well put together.

I'd love to hear the Sansamp Acoustic DI sample you mentioned.

When's the mini jam fest? I'll bring the guitar if you want to try it.

Sansamp Acoustic DI Sample. The sample has 3 sections. 1st section is the Sansamp, 2nd section is large condenser mic, and the 3rd is a blend of mic and sansamp.

As far as SLC mini-fest, I just made that up. But I'm seriously thinking of getting one going. I think we could get 4 or 5 of the local bbs members to show plus a few non-members.
 
SansAmp sample wasn't bad, but I definitely liked the LD mic better, what a sweet jangly sound! Did you use a standard tuning?

Yeah, even with the Sansamp it's still a DI sound. The LD mic is a cheapo, too. I was pleasently suprised with the results. Tuning is DADGAD. Can you make a sample of the Yamaha? I'll throw the Sansamp through the insert and see how it comes out.

coolasvanillaic, this thread is officially hi-jacked. Any attempts to get it back will result in the hi-jackers crashing this thread into the ground. :eek: I wanna hear that Steve Morse, too!
 
i'm doing really well, and i'm glad someone finally asked.

i'm leaving for the army on 8/25! i'm super excited because i'm gonna be doing intelligence work and other cool stuff - since i have a college degree i'm not getting as jerked around as other people.

but the bad news is i'm not sure when/where i'm gonna be settling down and being able to record and play again. i just bought a fender twin amp and i love her, but i have to say good bye for a couple months of boot camp on monday.

i finally have a recording set up i'm stoked on, and a guitar set up i've always dreamed of, but it'll be at least 8 months before i can use them all again (2 months of basic, and 6 months of intelligence school).
 
phyl, sounded good. I also listened to A6. Is your silent guitar nylon? I'll post some examples of the Sansamp on my nylon string later tonight. Nice playing. I like what you have so far. So how's the biking going? I guess you're a pedal-phyl now? :eek: :cool: :D :p ;)
