Hi all,

Going to finally stop lurking, say a hello and hopefully start using this forum a bit more actively.

I've got a few songs recorded that I'd love some feedback on, but it seems a bit rude to just dive straight in and expect anybody to listen to anything before I've contributed to the forum a bit.

I've got quite varied tastes inc. americana, lofi and electronica - and everything I've done has been a truly shoestring budget. I like to think that restrictions (self-imposed or otherwise) tend to bring out the more interesting results. Whether anyone else agrees with that I don't know ;)

Welcome to the big chair !
I don't know whether restrictions automatically ensure interesting results. The results could still be rubbish. Having said that though, in my experience, restrictions can definitely be a more than positive aid to creativity and good times, good meals and unique friendships. It's just not a 'given'.
By the way, you're not that Geordie actor chap that had some big hits in the 90s with "Jerome" or the West Ham and England goalie are you ? :laughings:

Well, some people may say that I sing about as well as the West Ham goalie and play football with roughly the same ability as that Georgie actor...

Agree with your main point though. Certainly not a given, but I like to think that restrictions force you to think more creatively about how to achieve the sounds you have in your head - as opposed to throwing an orchestra at every problem. Maybe I'm just tightfisted!

Mr. Green, How goes it? 2 years of lurking it's about time you get your feet wet!

In my defence, it wasn't until I tried to register this morning that I found out I'd already registered previously! I must have created the account 2 years ago and forgotten about it! Since then my lurking has come principally from googled recording queries directing me here. Thanks for the welcome anyway ;)

Had a quick listen to some of the tunes posted in the mp3 clinic forum. Some really profficient work there which makes me a little nervous about sharing my efforts, but hopefully room for something a little more rough around the edges. We shall see!

It's amazing that you remembered your pass word.
Can't wait to see your postings in the MP3 clinic.

Thanks moresound, I will get something posted on there soon (I had to reset my password by the way!)

Ah hoping you don't use the same pass word for everything for years on end that's how your bank account = 0. ;)

If my bank account ever reaches the dizzy heights of zero again, I will be a very happy man!! :(

Don't be deterred. The clinic represents many different levels of abilities. We get all different kinds in there and it's all good. Well, most of it is... But what you might consider lacking, others might consider inspiring.

What is cool with the clinic is the feedback you get over time. It really helps to identify the weak spots in your mixes and gives you ideas on where to go next.

Be sure to comment on other contributions. When people see you offering your thoughts on their material, they;ll be more inclined to give feedback on yours. Even if you aren't able to offer suggestions, just a simple "I like" or "I don't like and here's why", will work well.

Cheers and a belated welcome to the site....

We don't stand on ceremony here. Post 'em if you got 'em! :D

Cheers, I certainly will.

I'd have posted some feedback on other posts earlier, but I'm currently listening through crappy work speakers on a badly streaming broadband connection!
