How you guys shut your monitors

In every home recording there's come a time when you going to record a mike and you need to shut your monitors or to level em down

how you do it in your studio ??

I have my rig setup so my monitors are plugged into the MAIN outs of my Mackie 1202, and then headphones are of course in the headphone port. I assign ALT 3/4 to the headphones, and I can just kill the MAIN outs, and then assign whatever I want to listen to to ALT 3/4 and voila! Let me know if want more details.

You can always

Turn off the amplifier, or just use the attenuators and turn it down.

well .. i record through the 3/4 outputs , so its not possible for me

I turn them off and monitor thru headphones.

right now, my only choice is to unplug the monitors from the amp and monitor from the headphone output of the amp.......

Im too cheap to get a mixer just for monitoring.........

I do the same thing when i'm using a pair of my channels to monitor, but if i'm using my aux3/4 return to monitor, then I have to turn the amp off. luckily the power button is at big toe level, so its an ergonomically viable solution.
